Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

Well, I got it all working! Showing ~14.4V across the battery now when idling at what looks to be around 800rpm (but not sure how accurate the tachometer is!). Special thanks to billrigsby whose wiring diagrams were invaluable!

Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

Well I have the alternator mounted and wired in, but I'm only getting ~ 12.8 V across the battery. So I guess it isn't getting turned on. My charge lamp isn't lighting up so I'm going to check the continuity on that as well as my IG lead.

Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

I wanted to redo the electrics anyway as the indicators stopped working a while back... If this alternator doesn't work I'll look at doing what you did. Did you keep the external regulator?

Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

I got an alternator with an internal regulator. Over the next few weeks I'll be wiring it up and hopefully provide some good news in an update!

Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

OK thanks I might try that because getting an external regulator here in Australia is about half the cost of an 40A alternator and I'm pretty sure the current alternator needs an overhaul too. I have got the wiring diagrams (including billrigsby's excellent one) and I have been wanting to...

Convert Alternator to Internal Regulator (L1500 / 175)

Did you get any further with this? My external regulator has died and I'm having trouble finding a replacement, so I thought replacing the alternator with one that has an internal regulator would be a reasonable course of action.

Opening the 3 point hydraulics case

OK update time! I managed to get it open with a putty knife and a very fine chisel. There was no damage to the case itself luckily! I now have the control valve in parts and the o-rings are very hard and flat so I'm in the process of replacing those. Then I will re-assemble, use a tube of...

Opening the 3 point hydraulics case

Hi again all, I have an L1501DT (similar to L175/L185) and I'm trying to get to the control valve inside the rear hydraulics group. I'm having a heck of a time trying to take the top off the casing. I've even tried wrapping a hardness around it and lifting it off with my BX2360's FEL. All 10...

    L1501DT 3PT hydraulic parts

Thanks everyone :-). I'll wait a few more days until kubotabooks is back up. My state library also has the shop manual so I will take a trip in and photocopy the appropriate parts. Cheers, josh

    L1501DT 3PT hydraulic parts

Hi all, I'm looking for a parts diagram with parts numbers for the 3 point hydraulics system on an L1501DT. Specifically, I'm looking at the main piston, the sleeve that the piston moves inside, and the O-rings for the piston. Looks like my little orange beauty has had a fair bit of corrosion...

    L1500 Hydraulics

Hi from Western Australia! How did you go with replacing your hydraulic piston rings? I am about to do the same on my L1501DT but I don't have any manuals so I'm going to try and wing it...

    L1501DT Ignition Switch Wiring

Hi everyone :) I'm hoping someone can help me out because I can not find a wiring diagram for my L1501DT's switch anywhere. All of the wiring diagrams I have seen so far (L185, L235) have a different number and orientation of connectors. I've attached a photo of the 6 connectors (two are...
