I found the starter relay on a parts diagram. Haven't looked on the tractor yet, but probably I can find it. Is there a way to test it before I spend $100 plus for a new one?

Assumed (wrong!) I had a bad neutral safety switch, replaced with new, still same problem; starts in gear. Assuming again (?) there is a short somewhere. Wires from the switch are blue with orange bands and connect to black with white stripe and black with purple (maybe red?) stripe. They...
