Swapped My Loaded R14 Tires For Unloaded R3s

The sidewalls on turf tires are definitely softer and more bouncy than the other tire designs.

Also, don’t max out your loader with turf tires.

I think I've made my retirement decision....

Do what works best for you and your family? And remember that circumstances change and are different for everyone and every family. For years, I planned to retire at year end 2023, and am financially ready. Wife and I had lots of hobby and travel plans and sons are grown and on their own. Then...

Dealer quotes on L3302 and L3902

If you add a loader I second Ken’s recommendations. Turf tires aren’t great for loader work.

Dealer quotes on L3302 and L3902

Understand that R1 tires will tear up your grass a lot more than R4. I would only buy R1 if you will be primarily using your tractor in high traction situations such as ground engagement and snow. Otherwise for other general purposes the R4 or R14 may be a better fit for your needs.

Dealer quotes on L3302 and L3902

When I purchased my Kubota, the stock tires are R1, and the R4 (industrial) tires are considered as an up charge. These tires aren’t cheap, but you’ll likely not need to ever replace them. Before you buy, make sure you’re getting the best all around tire design for your purposes because to...

    Bucket chain hook placement

Why not hook to each hook on the ends of the bucket and then hook the two ends together so the chain drapes down the center of the bucket? This is the strongest way to lift something from the center. The chain is still centered, but the weight is carried by both hooks in line with the lift arms.

    Bucket chain hook placement

I’ve never seen the need for a middle hook. If I want to lift something with a single line centered, I just hook it on both side hooks and drape the chain end hooked in the middle.

    New Purchase

I looked at the L4702 three years ago, then looked at the MX. The MX has a lot more lift capacity, and better features than the L4701 (4802) for only a bit more money. It also a lot more robust machine that’s only a few inches larger than the L.

FEL bucket -should steel be added

I sold that tractor. I just had the short angle iron side over the inside of the bucket lip, and the longer side on top with the hooks and bolts attached.

FEL bucket -should steel be added

1/4” thick and it was a size like 2” x3” so there was less overhang on the bucket. The angle iron is significantly stiffer than flat bar steel.

FEL bucket -should steel be added

My current tractor came from the dealer with the hooks welded directly to the bucket, but it’s a stout bucket. On my last smaller tractor, I didn’t feel comfortable doing that, so I bought a piece of angle iron the length of the bucket lip and welded the hooks onto that. Then I bolted the angle...
