Should the steering box be adjusted with the engine off or on? Wheels on the ground or lifted? I lifted the front wheels off the ground and there was little to no play in the steering wheel. All the play in the steering wheel came back when the wheels were back on the ground.

I don’t have a manual for it. I understand the orientation of the flywheel won’t affect the timing however there are marks on the flywheel for TDC and injection and I would like to get them in the right position. If these marks aren’t critical to any future maintenance then I’ll just bolt it...

I just pulled my whole clutch assembly and flywheel on my L2250 to replace the ring gear and have the flywheel machined down. Unfortunately when I removed the flywheel I didn't mark its position. I'd prefer to have the timing marks in the right position should I ever need to do any other work...
