I imagine the dual filter assembly was designed with the first filter capturing large debris before it gets to the fuel pump. Filters are cheaper than fuel pumps.

Easiest thing to try first when it does it again is to loosen the fuel tank cap. Sometimes a bit a of a vacuum develops in the tank when some fuel has been withdrawn from running and the cap vent isn't working as it should. See post #4

When I purchased a used BX23 some years ago, it needed new tires all around. Purchasing a new set with rims thru the whole goods department was no more than just new tires. Now the old rims and tires have on winter chains and in the fall I just swap all the rims. It goes faster than mounting chains.
