    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

Well it's not the same issue, but I'm going to update any way, maybe to keep this out of the archives, and maybe it will help someone. The tractor developed another electrical problem. As mentioned above, the gauge cluster would intermittently quit. No gauges, no headlights and no back light...

    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

Sorry it took so long to get back with you. That's a great idea. It's still doing fine, but the next time it acts up i'll start checking the frame for continuity. I don't know why I didn't think of that, but it should put me very close to the problem. Thank you. I don't know how long it will...

    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

Thanks for the replies. I'll start by better describing under what conditions the fuse blows. Once in a blue moon, this fuse starts acting up. Sometimes, you turn the key the start position, the engine will make a half revolution and then the fuse will blow. Sometimes, when you turn the key to...

    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

I suppose you're right! The current starting problem is because fuse "J" in this panel keeps blowing. A couple weeks ago, fuse "D" shot and the gauge cluster quit working, but everything has been fine with it since I cleaned and greased the main cluster plug.

    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

Thanks for the reply. I will crawl under and check that wring good. It is exposed to the underside of the tractor, so I can see where it could have a bare spot. The starter relay and the glow plug relay are the same. I have had to replace the starter relay before, and I used the glow plug relay...

    M6040 Starter Relay Fuse blowing

This was a problem the tractor had before I bought it, but I didn't know it until later. It wouldn't crank one day and I found that fuse was shot. A 10 amp was in in place of the 5. I put a 5 in and it was okay for quite a while, then it did it again, replaced and it lasted a short time. I was...

    OEM Weight Rack Cost

I've been wanting a weight rack for my M6040 because the bush hog bounces the front end going down the road, and I don't like the FEL on while in the hay field during the summer. I found one locally that came off a M9540. They want $150. I've looked around the net for the price on a new one...

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

This is frustrating. I was moving some hay yesterday. Put a spear on the back. Went to pick up a roll and I couldn't set it down. 3pt wouldn't do anything. Not up or down. Had to wrap a chain around the roll a drag it off the spear. 3 pt started working fine. I tried it again on another roll...

Makes sense to me. I'll check it out Friday and report back.

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

I agree. I try not to let things stay up. Not that it matters now. But I guess that's why the tiller stands out to me. I don't usually leave things up. Seeing that tiller up for a few days was out of the norm. I tried the lowering speed knob off and it doesn't fall. So it seems like it will be...

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

10-4. I was hoping there was a way to nail down exactly what it was before I had to open it up. Thanks again y'all.

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

So I took the shop manual and get the feedback lever hooked back up and set to the factory length. It's still surging. Also, it used to hold up for a days at a time, with a 6 foot tiller anyway. Now it leaks down overnight with nothing on it at all. Where do I start to find what's wrong?

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

Dude. Wolfman. That will be a HUGE help to me. Thank you so much. I found the feedback lever. If it had any type of cotter key or pin holding it in, its gone so the lever was pretty loose. I have to work this weekend so I won't have time to try to get it straightened out this weekend. I'll let...

    M6040 3 Point "Hemorrhaging"

Or so that's what I've been told it called. It's pretty obvious in the video what I mean. I don't have a clue what happened to the audio. View My Video Hey y'all, the Kubota has recently started doing this. I don't guess it really hurts anything, but it does bother me, even though I don't...

    M6040 Remote Cable Replacement

Y'all nailed it. I found that the split pin was broken off even on both sides of the stud just about flush. I bumped it with my grinder to make it smooth and it came off. I guess the way its rusted made it look kind of mushroom shaped to me. Which is why I couldn't see how to get it off. But it...

    M6040 Remote Cable Replacement

Long story short, my cable that controls the remote got broken. I ordered a new cable. But when I went to replace it, I'm not real sure how to get the cable loose at the remote end. Do you just pry it off or what? I didn't want to get too rough with it and cause me more trouble. I thought some...

    M6040 won't go over 8 MPH

10-4. That's the plan going forward. Gonna grab some dry lube so I don't attract dust and lube everything I can get my hands on. Yes sir. It's pretty evident now that the tractor hasn't seen alot of regular use in a while. The lever for the remote hydraulics was REALLY stiff. Dad oiled it and...

    M6040 won't go over 8 MPH

Well. When I got off work this morning, a guy I work with who is much more fluent in tractors than me came by and checked the tractor out. He was more forceful with the shifter than me and lo and behold, I was only working two gears. He went over in the gear range and was going 13 mph across...

    M6040 won't go over 8 MPH

To be honest, I don't really know if reverse is any faster. I will check on that in the morning.

    M6040 won't go over 8 MPH

The manual doesn't say anything about a 2 speed rear end. How would it change between speeds? It definitely is going from high to low. Playing with it the other day there was a noticeable difference between the two. The low range is a whole lot slower. It doesn't have a creeper gear so I know...
