    New property - SWPA

Not sure what comparable models are available now, but I was looking at a larger B series and L3200. I chose the L3800 after receiving some great advice, 9 years later I think the L4600 would have been better. I move dirt, rocks, wood, trees, construction stuff, anything that needs to go from...

    New property - SWPA

Sounds like you are on the right track. I'm in south central PA with a small farm, maybe similar in topography but not a flat area on our property. Zero turn makes mowing fun and easy, especially if you are actually mowing all 5 acres. I had trouble with mine mowing around ditches or on wet...

    2016 M5091 140 hrs Def quality code

If I'm not mistaken, by looking at the light, it appears your ice cream cone has fallen over and is melting. Perhaps while hovering over a river? Makes you wonder what engineer designed that one.

    Newbee w/ZD1211 and questions

My ZD hydro intervals are 400 hours, in a non commercial setting that could be a good number of years depending on your variables. Why skimp? I've had almost no issues in 8 years, and mine was used and abused before I bought it, but I don't cheap out on maintenance or fluids.

    Charged for MX5200 recall

If it was explained ahead of time that I could reuse the filter/fluid OR go with new- then that was a decision I made either way. That is very shady for sure for your dealer to hit you with this surprise at 100 hours. Not sure on your MX what this interval is for the hydraulic fluid/filter-...

    Coolant issues

I have a zd331 that looses a wee bit over time, maybe 2-3 ounces over the course of a month of hard use. Bought it used with 600 hours and now has almost 1000, had it for 6 years. I was worried about it at first, but never had a hint of water in the oil, runs cool as long as I keep the rad...

    Loose blades on RC72 deck

Having this exact same issue with one blade on my ZD. I went out and bought new blades and cup washers and just replaced them all. After mowing some heavier grass I noticed the blade near the discharge opening was not cutting very well and sure enough it was loose again. I could not tighten...

    2011 RTV 500 Low Compression

My hunting buddy bought one used with 23 hours on it, 3 years old. Thought he got a great deal until we tried climbing uphill with us 2 and 100 lbs of corn, it got the job done but would not have carried any more. Looking back, the guy he bought it from lived on a hill and his family all were...

Bx25 HST fan blade - just 1 blade off

Looks like there is a fan blade directly across from the one that broke, how about breaking that one off? Would balance it quite a bit better that what you have now- that is until you can get it fixed properly:).

    new rear tires for ZD331

Nice blog, good write up on the WT300. You have not had any issues with them tearing up your lawn? I routinely get stuck like it's my job with the current turfs, these look like they would help a lot!

    new rear tires for ZD331

Just hoping for any suggestions on replacing the rear turfs. No good deed goes unpunished- I was mowing a horse pasture for a neighbor and one tire was cut and now doesn't hold air for long. It is what it is and the tires have almost 1000 hours on them. They are a bit slippery, so not sure...

Strange thing happened while mowing on my Z121S Contd.

Sometimes stuff just happens. I don't "brush hog" with my ZD, but I have no reservations about cutting 3' tall grass/weeds. Sometimes a stray branch will be there and if it is not too big it gets kicked out or chopped up, not my intention and I will avoid if if I know it is there. I have a...

New BX23 - how many hours is no longer new?

A lot of good advice being given. If this is the only Kubota dealership that is reasonably close, you have to decide what battles you want to fight. I think it is absolutely within reason to talk with a manager or owner if you don't want to take the one with a few hours on it already. Perhaps...

    Buying an L4701. 2017 vs 2018

I could be wrong here, but I didn't think these had "years" associated with them? If you buy a "new" tractor in 2015, it is a 2015 regardless of when it was made. Before my dealership was purchased by Messicks, I bought my tractor and at that time they had purchased a bunch of L3800's and...

    Caught it just right

Planted and maintaining 1500 tress on 11 acres of our farm, I swore an oath only to use my tractor for good, never evil. Sorry about the sideways pics, they are oriented correctly in my computer???

    service question

If you like to fix your own stuff, nothing on your list is that difficult. I have a zd331 and have done everything on your list (except check the parking brake) at least once. Instead of paying a dealer to do it I would take that money and buy a service manual and do the routine stuff...

    B2601 hill mowing advice

Not sure how your hills are laid out, but another thing to be mindful of is turning while still on an incline. I've had a few pucker moments having to maneuver on irregular ground, granted- it is mostly with loader work, but sometimes without. I Don't mow with my tractor so you may not have as...

4WD and HST necessary for mowing?

I was new to the whole mini farm life and I use my FEL for more things than I ever imagined. Now, I can't imagine not having one. I figured with 0% financing, I could buy the tractor I wanted and the difference in cost per month was like $30 for a bare bones vs. what I wanted. No brainer...

    How many of you . . .

I think one difference in this scenario is that the dealer knew there was a hidden device somewhere. If someone broke into my garage and the tractor didn't start, either the battery is dead, the fuel system has an issue or some other mechanical problem. OR- there is a theft deterrent system in...

    Pallet forks

How well do the bolt on ones work? I would think having weight that far out would be a large stress on the loader arms and bucket lip.
