    Front loader for a B7200

It doesn't look much like a bucket yet....but it's progress.

    SSQA pallet forks

Absolutely. I think I'll wear them out before the bucket (that's still coming). But I do have the steel for the bucket now, so that's some progress.

How did we ever used to do anything before ?

    DIY press brake

Thanks Hugo. When checking pressures after getting the hydraulics connected for the loader, found that the tractor relief is set to about 1850 psi. That needs two 5.5" cylinders to give me 40 tonne - I have two 20 tonne jacks on the press. I think I'll leave it as it is - the speed doesn't...

    Just another ballast box

Planning on filling it with bricks and stone. I've got lots of old heavy bricks and will add some stones to help stop them shaking around. I'll add a tube to the bottom for a trailer hitch, plus some rails so I can pick it up with forks. The uprights in the corners will hold long handled tool...

    Front loader for a B7200

Thanks Hugo. Definitely more clay here than sand.

    Front loader for a B7200

I'm hoping to get a loader bucket made this week. I saw this one with internal ribs while I was searching for ideas. To me, it looks like the ribs could add a fair amount of strength to the base of the bucket without adding much weight. Since I've never actually used one, I'm really interested...

    Just another ballast box

The frame is now welded and I've added mounting brackets. Next I'll clad it to turn it from a ballast frame into a ballast box. Then a coat of paint and it's ready to go.

Also an option. It would need two 5.5" bore cylinders, or smaller cylinders with some heavy duty levers, to get the 20 tonne that I'm supposed to be getting with each jack.

    DIY press brake

The length of the fingers is to match the rest of the tooling so they can be used in conjunction with the other top tools - they were cut out of the same top tools. Most likely the thinnest ones will be placed between wider tools for support when needed to make up specific lengths. It's unlikely...

    Just another ballast box

I can't get the steel to start making the loader bucket until Monday, so I made a start on a ballast box. I did a really unusual thing - using offcuts rather than buying new and adding to the offcut stock. It's meant the empty box is going to be pretty heavy since I've used 50x50x5 SHS and...

    DIY press brake

Finger brake....I bought an extra top tool and cut it into different width sections to give me a bit more flexibility with the press. So now I have two full 600 mm top tools plus the cut sections. Also cut one of the bottom tools in half so that one 600 mm section can sit in the middle - less...

    DIY press brake

I'm sorry and glad to hear that all at the same time. Great job on the training - it's an important thing. In Australia assistance animals have an all access pass to go everywhere - same as a service animal in the US. So far in 3 years Jayse has been everywhere with me except into surgery. No...

Thanks Hugo. It's just bits of steel.

    DIY press brake

Thanks Hugo - here's a description of how an air over hydraulic jack works from a Google search.... "An air-over-hydraulic jack works by using compressed air to pressurize a smaller amount of hydraulic fluid, which then acts on a larger hydraulic piston to lift a heavy load. The process...

    DIY press brake

I might try bumping the pressure up a little tomorrow and see if that helps. Then next week I might even get on to making the loader bucket so I can move some dirt.

    DIY press brake

A bit more progress over the last few days. Still not finished, but enough to give it a test. I tried it on a piece of 6 mm mild steel 340 mm long because that's what I had. The air over hydraulic jacks are slow but it worked. https://youtube.com/shorts/yhEPkaV7zFE?si=lPW2jXCbVIBz1kiS
