i think it would be more worth while for pallet forks if it could show level at any height

bucket tilt isnt that big of a deal but keeping forks and load level is very important
It will certainly work on pallet forks and show level at any height.

Also for the bucket, which is useful for occasional users such as myself. Or if you have forks attached to your bucket, I suppose. I'll take a couple of photos with it on my fork attachment when I get a chance. In my case, both devices have a mounting spot that's parallel to the plane of interest, but it's possible to deal with the situation where the implement doesn't have that.

OOPs, sorry. I wasn't looking for your intellectual property. I thought you were sharing an off the shelf build. You are close to a very attractive product.

What adjustment do you want to see on the base? If you mean it to account for a mounting surface that isn't parallel to the implement, that problem is handled differently (by adjusting the clear cover).
If it's meant to account for something else, you'll have to clarify for me.

I got you. I'm in.

After reading your excellent description, the only thing I wonder about is how easily it spins (skateboard bearings). I guess I thought is was suspended in a liquid in that clear cylinder (kind of like a level).

You are way ahead of me on your design acumen, so I'll just sit back and watch.

Well... sort of. I will have more pictures soon, and those will certainly give some clues as to how I did things.

Keep in mind that in addition to 3D printers, I've got a UV printer with a rotary attachment for the clear cylinders. In principle, you can make something that works like it without those things, and I'll give you my thoughts on that below. In the dust port business I get a lot of, "can you just sell me the STL so I can make my own." Then the design gets picked up overseas and soon you have a competitor. Now, in a couple of cases, I have released old designs for either no or modest cost. Probably not going to do that for this particular thing (at least right away). There's no real protection possible for the concept, which in its base form has been around for probably a thousand years. What you can obscure, to a degree, is how you solved certain design and manufacturing problems.

What I will do is give you enough insight into those problems such that rolling your own version should be doable with modest materials and equipment. The basic concept isn't really ground breaking.

HERE is something that works on the same principle and might be useful as-is if you have a 3D printer.

The clear cover isn't absolutely necessary. You could draw reference lines on whatever is holding the central pivoting barrel. Not quite as slick looking but functional (calibration is a little different). You could also print on clear sticker material and apply it to a clear cover. Not as permanent as the UV printer, but it should work.

The cover also provides some protection from rain, though it's certainly not completely waterproof.

The pivoting center is also 3D printed in two halves, though I'm still experimenting with different approaches to that. You have to put in a reasonable amount of weight, or mess with your slicer settings to print it so the bottom half is heavier. You could use automotive wheel weights but if you also use a magnet to hold it onto your machine, well, you've introduced a potential problem because they're made of steel. Likewise for small pieces of rebar and lots of other convenient, heavy materials. If you have lead shot, then that and a little epoxy or two-part urethane would solve the problem. If you clamp it or something instead of using a magnet like I do then the weight material is not an issue.

I use a single 40x13.5x5mm potted magnet because I use them on my dust ports, but if you already have some other kind of rare earth magnets, just keep adding them until it sticks to your liking.

I thought about using white PVC pipe for the pivoting center instead of printing it. You could make wooden inserts for it with recesses or holes sized for bearings so it pivots easily. Check out skateboard bearings (608s are what I had laying around) and you can find some reasonably priced options. Once you get it weighted, suspend it, carefully mark, mask off, and paint your level line. If you're careful about how you weight it, this shouldn't be a big problem.

It'd also be fun to do a little machining on aluminum (or other) round stock or tube to make the center. Just machine out a lot of material on the top half if you use round stock.

With no 3D printer, I'd cut the sides out of plywood, and use appropriately sized bolts for your bearings to suspend the center. As noted before, the clear part isn't critical, and you could use some kind of mark on the sides to show the bucket level.

Thus, in the end, the main principle is a weighted cylinder that can move freely with a reference line on it that matches to some mark on the stationary part of the unit (that is then affixed to your bucket/implement). There are a lot of ways to skin that cat. My goal is to make my version cheap enough that you won't want to bother... unless you're into it, which I respect.

Anyway, hope that helps those of you who want to make something of this nature. Post pictures if you do. I should have an orange sample made by tomorrow, print gods willing.
Even though I almost always prefer to make things myself, I reckon I'd buy your finished product when it's available. Anyone who is happy to share this amount of detail about their design and thoughts along the way deserves support.

Thank you, and no worries on my end. I had planned to share some alternative ideas for making one for those who wanted to roll their own anyway. I just used your prompt to do it and explain why (as some people don't seem to get why everything isn't free) I hold some information back.
If I didn't have a face for radio and a voice for silent movies, I would probably try to monetize YouTube maker videos in an attempt to pay for my toys that way. At the risk of scaring small children, I may still try that at some point, though I should probably get after it as it's not like my face for radio is improving with age. :ROFLMAO:
Orange end pieces look pretty cool.

Note the back one is sitting on a makeshift riser and also tilts forward slightly, hence it isn't level. The other two show an exaggerated parallax error because the photo is taken so close (creating an extreme angle compared to how you'd see it from the seat).

I'm flattered, but when you stop listening, you stop learning too. So I'm certainly not encouraging anyone to stop asking questions or offering suggestions.

Keeping liquid sealed up is a big challenge with 3D prints, but that approach is used in a lot of related things. As for the skateboard bearings, there are some that are pretty sticky. The old batch I had got a long soaking in alcohol followed by WD-40. The latest batch has worked out of the box, er tube. If you didn't have enough weight discrepancy between the top and bottom, it could be an issue. There's certainly some inertia to the unit, but it's very small.

Once I put it on a vibrating tractor, I didn't notice it at all. :ROFLMAO:

The other (non bearing) approach I considered was a thin shaft though the middle that had pointed ends that rested in conical openings at the ends. Not sure how that would work in a dirty environment. That's why I was thinking enclosed in liquid

Okay, I've listed it on Etsy. I'm doing it as "BETA" (which means I keep shipping them to you until I get it right or you get tired of me and ship it back for a refund). Limited to two guinea pigs lucky people so I don't get overwhelmed while debugging the design.

Appreciate all the input to this point!

Very nice. Why does your Etsy default to Spanish? What is the width and height of your final design?

Not sure why it’s giving you Spanish. I just clicked through and got English.

Clear tube diameter is 2”. Width 2-5/8”.

It’s still possible I’ll revise it upward in size. 4” is nuts, so maybe 3” max.
