Is a land plane effective on packed gravel? Wondering about getting one to deal with weeds on gravel drive/lot at our farm so I don't need to spray as much. The lot has larger farm equipment and semi trucks on it when our renters are planting & harvesting times so it's definitely stays packed/stable. Gravel size is typical road rock. Thanks.

Mine is very good at packed gravel. You do have the ability to adjust the depth of the blades. I've only used the spec settings. The only time I use scarifiers is to clear potholes. In that case, I don't always use all of them. I use only one for potholes usually.

A day or so after a good 1" rain will do wonders ...

Mine wouldn't uproot the weeds, there roots were too long, (3"-4") it just kinda gave them a haircut!

The late farmer across the road dragged a heavy bar and old chains up and down his 700' driveway and around and around the 'parking lot'. Simple ,cheap, effective. I did same on a smaller scale for 15 years,

I recently got a Land Pride 6' land plane and have about a 1/4 mile of stone driveway. The land plane is awesome. Easily breaks up compacted gravel, even without the scarifiers down. I had used my box blade and scrape blade previously but Land plane is much better tool for this job. It leaves a smooth, level surface in it's wake and doesn't throw any gravel off the sides of the drive. Also real easy to tilt using your 3pt leveler if you want to crown the driveway.

Only issue I ran into is the L3902 with R4 tires couldn't pull it up a pretty steep part of the drive. Tires would start spinning even in 4wd. The M7060 had no problem though.

For me, this was a great investment. 2 or 3 passes over the drive and it looks fantastic.
