Hi folks,

I just bought myself Kubota L225 and I've run into my first problem...of many to come, I'm sure.

The three point hitch lift is incredibly weak. Standing on the draw bar, it will lift my wife 130lbs but not me 250lbs. I also have a rear scraper blade it will not lift.

Fluid is full. Valve under the seat is open. Based on what I'm seeing online, it's possible that the pickup screen is clogged but that seems kind of unlikely to me as the fluid is pretty clean. I also have no idea how to get to it to clean it...so I haven't physically checked.

What else could be causing this? Other than that, it runs like a top and drives the woods belly mower with no problems at all.

I appreciate any thoughts or advice!

You may want to verify the pump pressure before doing too much but it sounds like you might need to replace the o-ring and backup ring on the piston that lifts the three point hitch.

There was just another thread that showed how to do that so I will try to find it and post a link.

Here is the link (but it was a different model tractor, but similar age and issue)

I watched that video. I think that is totally what's happening. Off to find replacement o-rings!

Hi All - looking for some more guidance here.

I ordered seals and replaced everything in the 3 pt hydraulic piston. It is still super weak. I have very low hydraulic pressure. The hitch will lift about 150 pounds.

The good news, it now stays in place once it's raised. There is essentially now loss of pressure once it is pressurized and the lift lever is placed back in neutral.

So, going down the next rabbit hole. What would you all recommend next? I bought a new hydraulic filter and am planning to drain the tank and install it when it arrives.

Would you fill with SAE 80, or UTH?

Other than the filter, what should I dig into next?

You should start by testing the pressure in the system. I believe there is a port near the speed control knob that can be used to check the pressure.

Thank you! I am working on trying to test the pressure - would you have any idea what size the threads are for that port? I have a thread checker and the plug didn't seem to fit anything I had on there. I'm guessing it's some type of uncommon fine metric thread.
