Land Pride Rotary Mower Question

I have a Land Pride RCF2784 and I am having a hrd time understanding how to attach it to my quick hitch. In the manual it shows 2 pin locations at the top link, and the pivot location behind them, but mine only has a pin at the top and a pivot directly under it, preventing me from being able to get my quick hitch hook on the top pin.

The cutter was advertised as quick hitch compatible, but this doesn't look right. I typically have to hook over the pivot pin instead, but that doesnt seem right.

Anybody have any ideas to what I am doing wrong? Did the dealer sell me one that isn't quick hitch compatible?

Take the top pin out and then rotate the object that is pinned on the bottom pin forward so the pin on it is where you attach to?

Really though, if this is a new mower, there should be an operator’s manual in a black tube with a screw on lid that will tell you everything you need to know. Read it!

If there is no manual you can probably get one from the website of the manufacturer or from the dealer.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at from the picture, but when I started to hook mine up, it looked off. But, it wasn't. I think the problem is the top rotates and the angle changes which makes it not right for either position. (I don't know if that explanation makes sense.)

I haven't hooked it up recently, but I think it hooked to the bottom. The top pin is just was just for reinforcement of the connection.

I probably wrong.So take a look in your manual. But I thought the way your pins are set up is the way it sets up for a typical three point setup.

For a quick hitch set up, don't you reverse the top bushing with the bottom?

The simple way to understand it is: the quick removable top silver pin is for regular top link connection and the black pin is for the hook on a Quick Hitch. Either connection then allows the mower to float/articulate.

The QH will hook on the lower black pin in your picture. I had a problem with a cheap quick hitch I ordered online that the top hook was too wide to fit into the Landpride rotary cutter top link connection. I stopped by the dealer and looked at the Landpride QH16 quick hitch and the top hook was narrower and stuck out a little more, so ended up getting the QH16. Watch the attached video.

OP I think in the advice from others above is correct…the way @Elliott in GA describes matches my experience.

if you tried to connect and the QH match to the implement pins did not seem self explanatory, then I wonder which make and model of quick hitch are you using? Could you share that data point?

Thank you all for the help. I apparently was doing it right (hooking on the lower black pin), I just wasn't sure and didn't want to mess something up.

I have looked through the manual several times and cannot find anywhere that states to do that. Do you have a picture to reference? It seemed odd to me to hook onto the black cast pin but even in the land pride videos I've found, that is what they do.

This is how mine sits currently.

And when i hook up my quick hitch, the top hook goes under the "black pin" shown in this picture. The top pin does nothing and does not get used.


Are you saying the black pin needs to go on top and the anodized pin goes on bottom?
