Hello all. I made a mistake and made a small problem much larger. My brake (and subsequent parking brake) no longer works. The brake had been getting weaker and weaker and eventually when the parking brake was fully engaged, it would only barely slow the tractor. Well, this being the case, I accidentally mowed my entire 3 hour lawn with the parking brake engaged without realizing it. I didnt realize it because it simply no longer bogs or slows the tractor. What is broken here? Anyone know how to fix? Now im simply operating the tractor using FWD/RVS pedals and stopping on level only. It's a pain. thanks

I have not. I can start there though. I just figured I broke something because it was a rapid decline into complete disfunction.

Well, you might have broken something, but going through the adjustment procedure as the first step would be my suggestion unless you properly adjusted them recently.
While you’re working on adjusting them, it will likely become obvious if something in the linkage has broken.
If you don't already have a Workshop Manual here's a link. Has diagrams and descriptions of linkage and how the brake system works and how to adjust.

thanks for the replies. In addition to the simple mechanical linage adjustments, is there an internal device that I may have worn out? Basically, what Im asking, is how this brake even works? There are no obvious brakes of course, so im assuming it's inside the hydraulic pump or something.
I def will, just currently on a work trip so trying to coordinate chores for when I get home while working. parking brake is about #7 on my list, but still important.

welcome to my world.... yeah, I 'used up' the brake internals as well, using it as a BRAKE even though it's only a PARKING brake.....
Anyway, you'll need $200 worth of internals to make it new again. Local dealer quoted me $4400 to do that ! Some here says it's a 6.5 hour job, hmm.. ROPS comes off, seat(friggin heavy ! ), seat/fender tin, rear wheels, have to drop and remove the HST/rear end chunk, drain HST (save the oil !! ), remove access plate on right side, pull out guts,install new, reattach everything and replace the oil. adjust brake linkage.
That's it in a nutshell. if you want to practice, come on up !!!

I didn't have brakes on my first tractor. So, when I got my BX, I burned the breaks out in the first week. I didn't realize I had it set. It now matches my side x side. Wife asked "how do I park this thing?" I told her to point the front wheels uphill or in a direction that it will hit something on the way down to stop it. Or put a rock under the tire before it rolls away.
I now keep the parking brake in the BH bucket now...... a rock.

I have left my parking brake on about 1,589,786,396 times (so far). 
Usually I catch it in short order, but left it on for a while when I first got it.
My place is pretty flat, so I am "on the fence" about if I would fix it or not…..However, if I got a "bug in my ass”, for 200 bucks and 2 days work, I might/probably would/most likely do it.
But I am also kinda lazy, so the whole “rock idea” sounds semi-appealing????
