My fuel gauge shows full when sitting still. The tank is about 1/2 full. When i am moving it moves around between 3/4 and full.
Any ideas if it is the gauge, float, sending unit......?????

Thanks

Yep. That’s what it is.

(More seriously,… it’s more than likely corroded or loose connections in the gauge circuit. First thing to check is a good-ground at the sending unit.

His ground is obviously good or itd be reading empty. The sending unit works by completing the circuit to ground. More likely your problem is that your sending wire from gauge to tank is grounding out somewhere. Then while running that spot on the wire is vibrating on and then off from the ground.

That’s correct on most analog gauges.. Thanks for that.. Some digital gauges will “drift” erratically if the ground is poor (corroded).

TTFO… Workerbee makes a good suggestion by implication… if you ground the wire at the sensor completely the gauge should read ”Full” if the wire is intact and the gauge is healthy.
