With the help ftom the members of this forum I was able to get my blades replaced. Now I have to get the belt routed correctly and I seem to be unable to route the belt around the rear drive pulley. I loosened the spring and attempted to put the belt back on and it just isnt reaching so I guess i have the routing wrong. I just replaced this belt a few months ago and i just can not figure it out this time.. Are there any videos of this exact model belt being replaced that i could view? Also since the belt has 2 sides how do you know which side faces in. Some of the pulleys seem to accommodate the flat side of belt and others the thinner side. I hope I am making sense. Ithink I will take the deck off the mower again and try to get the belt threaded correctly. When I try and find the belt diagram I only find parts diagrams.I have a diagram on the deck that is partially damaged. Thank you all for helping me, I took 3 days off work to try and work on mower and I am on my last day, and the weeds are getting higher.

@rick sheltra - I had posted this last night in you blade thread.

Here is the diagram showing the parts for the mower belt and pulleys. I tried to color code it and hope that will make sense to you with the deck. The diagram shows the pulleys a bit out of place but I think it is colored correctly.

Yellow shows the blade pulleys
Red shows the two tension pulleys (which is a new concept to me) and I believe the backside of the belt touches these pulleys, which should have a flat vertical surface on the outer diameter.
Green is a deck mounted pulley that is also on the flat side of the belt.
Blue is the PTO that is mounted to the engine vertical crankshaft.

The belt should be a “vee Belt” with the flat side on the exterior and the tapered side on the interior.

The pulleys will have a deep tapered groove on the outer diameter or they will be a cylindrical shape that is wider and flat on the outside (there will be a slight shoulder at both edges on these cylinders).

The belt interior sloped section fits down into the grooved pulleys and the exterior flat side will be against the flat cylinders.

I find it easiest to get the belt routed properly, fitted into all the grooved pulleys and around all the pulleys except for one pulley. That one pulley is important to chose and should be easily accessed. It may be you have to use the double pulleys on the tensioner arm and unhook the spring to get the belt on all of the pulleys and then use a looped piece of strong cord (paracord?) and a leather gloved hand or wooden rod to pull the spring into place. Wear long sleeves and safety glasses if you are stretching the spring into place. And leather gloves on both hands is best for safety.

Thank you so much for the detail. As I was working with it, I twisted the belt in the right direction, and it fits in all the pulleys perfectly now. I used a small come-along strap and cranked the tension spring on there pretty easily.. My next project now will be getting the deck adjusted to be level. it seems to be tilting towards the front. Thanks again for advice and info.

thank you,,,,, you all are so kind to help. I used a come-along strap to get the spring hooked back up, as i put it all back together, the belt fit in all pulleys properly. Thanks again

It shouldn't be very extreme... maybe 1/4 inch or less of tilt forward from front to back.

But you need the front to be slightly lower, otherwise you end up cutting the grass multiple times in the same pass.
