I've never seen a landscape or equipment trailer with 7K GVWR or more with anything less than a 2 5/16" ball.

...unless it was of a "home grown" variety.

My 7K GVWR Load Trail dump trailer came with a 2" ball hitch from the factory.
In fact, after we had trouble trying to put it on my 2 5/16" ball, we checked the others on the lot and all four of this model had 2" couplers.

That stinks. Couple weeks ago my GMC 2500 got one. 🦌😡

Gotten a bunch over the years, but it’s been a LONG time.

Left side mirror gone, nicked up both left doors and the box. Guessing pieces of the mirror did the paint/body damage. Not deep but very noticeable.

At 6 months old and 3,900 miles, I did an insurance claim.

Hopefully goes in for repair Monday.
Unfortunately I have hit a deer with every personally owned vehicle (including motorcycle) I have had since living in our current house. It’s still better than being a townie. That’s just life in our area. Deer are road hazards.

My mourning period is over from today….i finally found the traction control button (yes i know, take my own advice and read the manual…well the manual is online🤨), and was able to turn off traction control for the first time (it’s with the stereo buttons of all places?)…anyway I turned off after work for the commute home and I had to make a turn and in some traffic…holy FnSh_t….it was a handful before but OH MY, after I got her pointed straight, looked in the mirror to assess what I left behind all I could do was giggle and hope no sheriff in sight…now I understand why some people fear Godzilla! She’s a beast!

Rotational hub. There has been issues with them making grinding noise in 2wd then they replace it with a real hub.

The trucks without a front LSD (non Tremor package) don’t experience the grinding noise. There was a crossover year (2023) when Ford implemented the fixed hub on all trucks including some Tremor optioned trucks. That’s where the “replace with selectable hub” came from. With no LSD in the front axle it will not matter.

I just got back from a ~600 mile round trip with the F-450 and Kaufman 30ft gooseneck trailer and it was a great trip. I continue to be so impressed with the F-450. Fuel mileage loaded on the way over with 7,000 lb of trailer and around 8,000 lb of L47TLB was around 9.5 mpg, and unloaded on the way back around 12.6 mpg. Combined average for the trip was 10.7 mpg. Not bad for a truck with a 4.30 rear end and doing 70 mph much of the way over hilly terrain. The F-450 is a towing dream to be honest and I couldn't be happier with it in that role. The Kaufman trailer is great too and I have no complaints with how it tows or how it carries a load.

I'm really liking the L47. I've been thinking about one as my next new ride when I'm ready to part with the B2650.

All of us on this site who advised you to go the F450 route are happy that we made you happy!😁😁😁
I can't thank you and those members enough! (y) To say that I'm thrilled with the F-450 is an understatement. I've always been and continue to be a Ford guy, but I really had no idea how exceptional the newer trucks were, and I can't imagine a better truck for towing duties. There is simply no drama with this truck and no stress. Just tons of power, an incredible transmission, wonderful features and absolute comfort.

I'm ordering a Banks iDash Stealth Pod and mount today so that I can monitor EGTs and battery voltage among other things, and I'll be installing the new bumpers and Baja Designs lights this spring.

How does EGT monitoring work with the new Fords? Do you have to install a pyrometer probe somewhere in the exhaust like I had to do in my older Dodge/Cummins?

No, you don't have to. There are a lot of pyrometers installed in the system already and the Banks iDash gets data from the OBDII port, along with a bunch of other data that is available but not displayed on the Ford dash.

My good friend in Hawaii is my enabler. I called him today to talk with him about the iDash since he's had one in his F-350 Super Duty 6.7L for a while and he told me about the PedalMonster which he was raving about. Based on his experience with it and the iDash I decided to opt for the package deal. Not cheap but currently on sale and there's an additional 10% discount for signing up for emails and such.

Once the warranty has expired I'll look into more significant changes to improve reliability and longevity, but for now this will be it. I hope to have this truck when it has 180k miles on it like my F-250 which is still a great truck and going strong 24 years later.

My friend's F-350 with the Tremor package and BANKS iDash on the mean streets of Honolulu. 😂

I think I mentioned before, I have two of the iDash's in my Silverado. The Pedal Monster is on my wish list.

Oh, you're definitely one of the enablers! 😂 Yes, I remember you mentioning the Banks iDash gauges and that got me looking at them. I'm going to start with one and see if it's enough. Not hard to add another in a different pod if I need to access more information, but EGTs and Volts will be a good start.

I have other upgrades on my mind but way down the road. Things like transmission pan, exhaust, differential covers etc. I may need to buy new tires at some point this year. The ones that came on the truck now have 23k miles on them and they're looking a little worn.

Kenny, what year is your Duramax? When I had my '03, I had an Edge Insight monitor with an added pyro to keep an eye on everything, and it would control the EFILive tunes. Late last year I picked up a '16 from a good friend who's had it since new. It had weight loss surgery with 2500 miles on it and a single EFILive tow tune, does great and gobs of power for me, especially compared to the 03 or my old 07 gasser.

I say all that because I was considering another insight or similar, but have no real plans or desires to go deep into this truck like my LB7, just drive it and enjoy MPG in the 20's unloaded. I found BT Diesel Works sells an AutoSync BCM flash tool. Part of the parameters that can be changed or viewed are engine vitals, right on the dashboard or infotainment screen. Plus, like 175+ BCM settings can be modified. Looks like they're having a sale on the tuning license being included with purchase for the next few weeks.

Early 2019. Special ordered it, and it came in August of 2018, first one my dealer sold.

I had an Edge Insight in my 2015 2500HD LML and really liked it, so much so I bought one for my 2019 L5P 2500HD( I left the old one in the '15 when I traded it-it was already sold and the new owner wanted it), but it didn't work right. I worked with tech support for about 2-3 months while they tried many different updates, they made lots of promises but could never get the issues fixed. They finally cried uncle, and I requested a return/refund which they agreed to.

Literally about a week after I got the refund, I received a press release email announcing compatibility with the 2019 L5P's HD's. WTF? Seems the tech support peeps didn't talk to the development peeps. So I contacted tech support again, and asked for a substantial discount on a new 'compatible' unit for all I went through previously, and they said no.

At that point, I swore of Edge forever, and went with the Banks.

Sounds about right with the left hand not talking to the right at the same company. I'd heard their reputation has gotten worse over the years and the products had been lacking. I've been out of the diesel game for almost 6 years, and A LOT had changed when I started looking up things.

I love a long bed truck, really wish my "new" one was like my 03, but a deal kind of dropped in my lap and the wife said spend the money, so here I am.

Same here, it's the soul reason I traded my 2015, it had the short bed.
A long bed isn't always long enough either. With the gooseneck trailer connected and the DECKED tool box in the bed, there's no room for either of my JohnDow fuel storage/transfer tanks.

Not sure if we have a lot of dually truck owners here but if you do a lot of towing, they are noticeably much more stable and sure footed compared to SRW. I had a dually many years ago and had forgotten about that benefit, but now that I have SRW and DRW the difference when towing is very obvious.

Pulling the 30 ft gooseneck it occured to me that I have 14 tires in contact with the road! 😂
