Howdy from northeastern Colorado! I just bought a new LX3520 for landscaping, hauling trailers full of material, moving rocks, drilling post holes, and whatever else I can think of. The reason I bought the "SU" Special Utility model was because it has higher ground clearance than the other 35-40HP LX20s. I didn't notice at first when I was shopping at the dealer, but when I went home and looked at the Specs/Details sheet online, I found that the 35-40HP have only 9.8" of ground clearance (front axle) whereas the 26HP has almost 15" clearance BUT a narrower distance between the loader arms.
I was almost gonna save the $$ and emissions complexity by getting the LX2620, but it I decided the extra weight of a cab (~500 pounds) on a 26HP with narrower loader arms could cause stability issues on hillsides. But lo and behold, the 35HP Special Utility model has a happy-medium 12.x" ground clearance, while the turbocharger helps offset the extra 500# weight of the cab.
Accessories purchased:
* 1548 Land Pride brush hog (have it already).
* 1258 Land Pride rototiller (have it already).
* Quick Hitch kit (lives up to its name!)
* Loader auto-leveler kit (on order).
* Rear wheel spacers to further increase stability on slopes (on order).
Unexpected bonuses:
* I didn't expect the SU model to come with full Cruise Control, but mine did.
* I didn't expect the SU model to come with LED cab lights, but mine has 4 LED cab lights.
* I didn't realize the rear cab glass opened up on gas struts. That pairs very nicely with the Quick Hitch!
My only complaints so far about this brand new Kubota tractor are:
* Dealer found and fixed a bent speed/gear selector linkage that was preventing the selector from going into Low and making the selector land between the gear markings.
* There's no lower lock-nut on the 3-point's turnbuckle arm. I've already had the turnbuckle twist itself downward by several inches, several times in the first couple days of use, even with the top lock-nut tightened.
* The paint person/robot completely missed a few spots with orange paint, as though the frame was painted after the loader arms were installed.
* The paint person/robot missed clear-coating several spots in the same area.
* The right side black plastic engine cover panel is missing.
* The power steering sometimes whines near full locks, or after sitting in one position for a length of time and then changing.
Dealer assures me the paint and any other issues that crop up will be fixed under warranty. So far they've been great, they didn't try to conceal or downplay any of the above issues, and have already committed to making at least 1-2 more trips out to my neck of the woods to install the wheel spacers and leveling kit, and address the paint issues.
It was delivered Weds, I started the gentle break-in process Thursday morning, and am up to 9.5 hours on it now. It's doing everything I would expect it to do, and has already saved me several weekends of time and effort. I'll probably change the oil earlier than 50 hours, and again at 50 hours just to make sure it's all squeaky clean inside for the long haul. Happy customer here!
