LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

I like my 2501 HST for many reasons and I have a RC for it.

HOWEVER…..I completely “failed” when I bought the RC.

Now in my defense, I had never even sat on a tractor with a RC attached before I bought it, and the advertisement of “can handle trees up to 2 inchs” was foremost in my mind when I decided I “needed one”.

A more Honest/complete description would be something like:

“Can handle the OCCASIONAL 2” tree if you run into them ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE” (But it will sound like the Earth is "cracking in half" and you will probably sh1t your pants)

(I wonder if Land Pride is looking for an “advertising guy” ;) )

So now my “only used once” RC sits safely in my barn, but it does look impressive hanging on the wall.

You simply need more practice. ;)

I suppose that I shouldn't mention that I frequently plow with the rear blade in High range...to get some more lift for throwing snow over the existing banks.

flame away. lol
I've used the Kubota's loader to transport different materials on a variety of terrains. On anything other than a paved surface the irregularities at higher speeds cause more bouncing than I like. My concern with bouncing is the unnecessary stress on the loader frame and connections. It's also a more enjoyable ride without the bouncing.

When plowing snow the tractor spends most of its time in M/Rabbit or H/Turtle. Uphill vs downhill makes a difference too. Sometimes with lighter snow it does fine in H/Rabbit. This is with an 8' front mounted Fisher plow.

I don’t think the noise will change with more HP.

My ancient Mohawk picks its teeth with 2" saplings. My biggest concern when running over something closer to 4" is the shrapnel.

I have a L2501HST and live on a grade at 4500 ft. I think maybe some people forget they are driving a tractor. It's not going to be as fast as a car/truck.

Sure, if you were going miles, the speed might matter a lot. In practice, I don't feel like I can safely go downhill at full speed in H with no load. I think that mean I couldn't do it uphill either.

It's not much different in M, but I do feel safe without a load in the grader/scraper downhill. I can't go full speed uphill with a load in M. I don't find it a big deal, but you might.

I don't have an issue going full speed in L uphill working on the road, but I usually stay in M and don't depress the treadle fully so I stay at 2300 RPMs or so. That works for me using my grader scraper doing the community road even uphill. Then, downhill I go full speed.

On the other hand, I don't have any DPF to deal with and my tractor was cheaper than all DPF models. Everything is a tradeoff. I'm happy with my tradeoffs.
You don’t have to have one tradeoff…

Messick's L versus LX comparison:

Great video…thanks for sharing.

After watching video, couple things I would mention:

1. for the OP…a BX IMO is more stable (lower center of gravity) than a B or LX.

2. L has a stance that makes you feel less tippy to a B, at least the L3302 I have operated is that way…it’s wider.

3. finally anyone else notice the brush guard deformation on the L in the video? Sort of unusual bend lines? 🤔

First couple of mows will be noisy. If you're mowing more than once a year, there shouldn't be anything left more than 2 inches, so over time it will be exactly right. You didn't say anything broke (or was going to break). You just said it was loud. Did you expect it to be quiet?

I honestly can’t remeber what I was expecting. Never having had one, nor ever used one, it was a ‘gamble’ on my part.

When I placed my order for the tractor, I was “day dreaming” about all the things I was going to accomplish/get done/do……However, as reality sank in, I found myself not having nearly the amount of time I need to accomplish such tasks.

The other reality, is that some of the implements I bought were not up to the task I envisioned for them…

But now that I am closing in on retirement, maybe things will change as far as “free time” goes?

We will see I suppose. 🤷‍♂️
