If it’s cold enough long enough to freeze the fire ants, it will be worth the unusual cold. If they’re still here in spring, maybe not.

I’m enjoying the hell out of this “sub-zero” stuff.

I just got up to the “cabin” and started a fire.

For a “city boy” there is nothing better than an “up north fire”.

Should be 15 or 20 inchs of good ice, so setting up the shanty(s) will be easy.

@Paul Allwood has my deepest condolences…………I simply could not take that heat.

But the COLD…………I love it.

I bought a “skeety thrower” on a whim, and we are going to “Ice fish, and shoot skeet” for a few days.

Like my SIL says…………...There is no such thing as “bad weather”…….Only “bad gear”….

Drinking, shooting skeet, fishing, and NOT WORKING………….Priceless…….. ;) (y) (y):D
Amen…at least when ice is on it takes more talent for the shooting’ irons to sink is boating accident😉.

not sure you follow ice coverage or not, but I pay attention as our other place up north in the snow belt just off the lake and we get pounded until the lake freezes over. Anyway maybe link is interesting to you or others.

your fire looks outstanding!

I am loving it! I much prefer the cold instead of 80 and humid! Plus, no bugs and mosquitos that’s one of my favorite parts. Can always put on more clothes, but heat and humidity doesn’t care what your wearing. Would rather be outside in the winter than the summer.

We had the opposite. A week of over 40 deg C forecast in late January, ranging from 40 to 44 (104 to 111 deg F). Most of these days turned out 1-2 degrees higher than forecast.

I don't mind the heat, but this was a bit much.

Sorry mate, but that would be “hellish” for my fat ass…………. 😅

Yeah, the high temps, hot wind and a bit of smoke in the air from nearby bushfires....all a bit much.
