OR…you could do what newer vehicle mfr’s do…. Delete the damn thing since no one ever checks it anyway. :devilish:

True, We had an Audi. I looked all over and finally asked. The infotainment system tells you to add.

I want to keep this tractor a while and enjoy keeping up with the maintenance. I got it in late fall. I was able to do a few things with it before all the snow. I don’t use it for all my snow removal. I have a nice walk behind for both drives. Just big piles and pushing the snow in piles in the backyard so the dogs and we can walk around easy. Enjoyable stuff, not required like the other drives. Thanks for all the input

I reached out to Messick’s It appears Kubota has a solution. It will cost about $60 plus shipping. They said that there is a service bulletin depending on the serial number of the tractor and engine. Check with your dealer.

I know it is sort of trivial but I need to use both hands. Should be something easy to check. Heck the HST dip stick is right between my legs.

Here are the part numbers
Dipstick part # TC620-16600, $30.66

Guide part # TC620-16610, $28.80
A solution for what exactly? Yeah, the old and new part are just so different. 😂

I see that McMXi's sticks are both rigid and the L2501 is a flexible so I guess no hope for me there.

Maybe someone with a 3d printer could come up with a loop handle that could slip over the existing one and clamp in place. it could be that knob shape in the bottom, split and once popped on secured with a couple screws. My son has one and made me handles for the BH77 so I could put a switch in each one for my thumb on that I made hydraulic and run with a 3rd function.
I will have to see if he is up to the task.
The guy at messicks, his son is making things for sale with a printer.
Plant this seed there!

I messed around with this a little more I found that a regular 1/2" flat washer will slide over the knob from the dipstick side. I used a countersink first so it was more of a taper coming against the fat part of the knob. then 2 zip ties back to back to hold it in place. It gives a nice place to put 2 fingers under to lift.
A second version if you aren't afraid of a loop catching was a piece of SS coat hanger wire. Drilled 2 holes for that and tig welded on the lower side.
Again the zip ties to hold in place.

The only other thought I had was maybe the vibration might weaken that knob area over time, again why I countersunk the washer. But since this topic came up I have another arthritic finger, the middle one on my left hand that is being trouble some so I will do what helps me at the moment.

Now lets work on the 2501’s sight glass location.

I made a dipstick for mine I use in the fill port. I will have to see if I have a picture or take one and write that up. With the tractor level in the garage and level in sight glass, I took a piece of about 1/8 rod that i mounted in a file handle. A piece of broom handle would probably work for a handle. It sticks down in with the handle stopping where the fill hole is smaller. Then I took a file and marked that spot. So if I am back there filling I just keep checking.
I verify when I am done with the sight glass.
Non of this maneuvering you pictured for me.

Note it was a piece of 3/16" rod. The full file mark is just above that bulge are in the scrap rod at 9-5/16ths from the handle I was going to try and catch it when it was low and figure out some amount needed to add to bring to full and mark that.
It tilts slightly going in towards vertical, not exactly at the angle of the opening.
It could be made to rest on the outside flat this rest inside at the bottom of the fill port.
Dimensions would need to be changed.

And that odd little z shaped pc is to hang it on the 5 gal pail so I don't misplace it.

This is a L2501DT so I don't know if it will be the same for a HST or other HP models in that same frame size. Also don't know if your location for fill is the same.

Down the rabbit hole we go. 😂

Here are the engine oil dipsticks from the M6060 (top) and MX6000 (bottom). The length is the least critical dimension since a long dipstick can be cut down and remarked, but the image below gives a reasonable account of the length.

Dang, the thickness difference between the l2501 and your mx/m(s) is crazy. Looks like they just grabbed a round bar and flattened the edge! Probably could be used as a pry bar or flathead in a pinch

There is a TSB-2022-048 stating that the engine oil dipstick is difficult to find and remove, and has a 5-year warranty from the original purchase date. Parts and labor covered.

I installed this longer tube & dipstick today in a L3301. It sticks up a couple of inches higher than the original.
