A new acquisition and my first tractor. There is a ton of work to get her baselined and reliable.
thought I would document the activity in case it helps someone in the future and more likely, to ask for help!
I would like to keep it operational for as long as possible, but as I have just found that the radiator is leaking, that will have to go away for repairs which will likely take a couple of weeks.
A good opportunity then to fix the broken battery hold down and replace the failed non original alternator with an aftermarket copy of the original 14amp one.
Will post more as things progress.

Starting to explore the electrical system. I decided that getting the lights working would be a good step forward.
But of course there were some challenges. Firstly before even starting I spent hours trying to find replacement headlamps that are 5 inches wide and 2 inches high. This proved to be impossible. So I ordered in the best alternatives which are dual side light / headlamp units which are 2 inches high but 5 3/4 inches wide.
So in order to try to save the original lighting without damaging it, extreme caution was employed. But of course 4 out of 6 bolts snapped off the two rear lights. And the indicators now need to be repaired if I do reinstall them. Just this took several hours.
but the new headlamps have now been installed:
Custom brackets were needed and the black housing piece will need to be modified if it gets reinstalled or I may make something instead.

will connect the wiring next. Then check fuses and switches etc. but the charging circuit is also faulty so will need troubleshooting too

All lighting connections re terminated. Fuses and fuse holders replaced and nearly all the electrics sprung to life. Now outstanding is horn ( needs new button switch ) hour meter and tacho.

decided to move on to the seized left brake pedal. I had suspected that the pivot arm had seized in the hub and indeed this was the case:

The circlip was toast but it did come apart with lots of heat and the big persuader

the bake shoes were bad so new ones have been ordered with new o rings and circlips. Kubota dealer wanted £375 for two shoes in UK!! So ordered in 4 new shoes from Poland for under £80 shipped.

Amazingly the new brake shoes arrived in UK in 3 days from Traktor Parts in Poland. Good quality but the springs were a bit slack so I drilled one new hole on each shoe which tightened things up just waiting for circlips to arrive before reassembly

also spent time freeing up the pedal pivot axle which was quite stiff too.

tidied up the wiring and verified 14.6VDC alternator output from the internally rectified aftermarket unit that it came with.

also made up a battery stay.

new radiator ordered from friday parts.
