L3600, front axle bevel gear case. The bearings need replacing, but I haven't been able to pull them. Still working on that. In the meanwhile, I'm looking at finding a used case instead. The part number I need is TA040-12803 for serial numbers > 57800. My serial number is 58003 (1997 model, I think). I have found at a reasonable price a TA040-12802 which is for serial numbers < 57799. Any way to determine if the older part number will work?

Here is an illustrated parts list that might be what you are trying to repair but there are a few different 4WD L3600 tractors listed on Messicks and Kubota websites so you need to check them for yourself.

Did you get the cir-clips removed?

Thanks for the reply. I have successfully disassembled the front axle case that you provided the diagram for. I'm working on the differential gear shaft in the bevel gear case. Here is the diagram. Yes, I have removed the snap ring. I'm trying to remove bearing 090 in the diagram. My question is whether I can replace the case (part 030) with the older part no, since I have located one for $150. The parts list indicates (with the arrow on the newer part no), that the newer part can be used for the older model, but I am hoping to go the other way, since I found an older part for $150.

I don’t think old to newer serial numbers would work. You might contact @007kubotaguy (Mr. Newhall) in California and ask him if he has a case or for help with your problem. The bearing should be fairly loose in the case, maybe rusted ? Could you cut the race? Or is the case damaged?
