Thanks for all the responses. Just re-enforces my thoughts on mowing without the FEL getting in the way. Plus I have a lot of obstacles to get around like trees, gardens, and outbuildings.
Yup. Having the FEL on the tractor makes it 6' longer so harder to get in tight spots. In some spots I'm able to raise the bucket to get closer to a corner (over a fence, for instance) but in other spots that's not possible.

I thought if you kept it down low it would be added weight also lowering your center of gravity.
Yes, you are correct. Problem is it sticks out quite a way and in a tight spot it may make that portion of the mow almost impossible to get to.

The OP was asking about mowing with a loader on a BX or B in which case the loader does not add anything close to 6 ft of length, more like 3 ft and less than half that if you take just the bucket off.

Just curious as to how many people that have a BX or B with a belly mower leave the FEL on while mowing? I usually do any loader work and when time to mow I drop the loader. Like I said, just curious.
I just recently got the belly mower. I built the backhoe dolly specifically to be able to remove it when it's not specifically needed. The FEL is a piece of cake to take off and put back on. The property I have (2.5 acres) has some pretty significant hills that I need to mow. The BX is very easy to handle without all the added weight and length. Not to mention the steering is a dream with no frontend weight. To say that taking off the FEL is a waste of time just speaks to how unfamiliar you are with removing and reattaching it. I have not timed it, but no more than 3 mins on or off. The BX climbs hills like a champ when unhindered by the FEL.

No mmm on the B3200 but I leave the FEL on when I brush cut. It works great to up end the field olives and allow the rotary cutter to chop them up.

When I had a brush hog and went through tall stuff I did use the FEL to find things so the bush hog didn't.

In the eight years I've had my BX, I've never taken the FEl off. It comes in handy when mowing and stopping to trim low hanging branches. Cut them up, toss themin the bucket, and next trip past the brush pile dump them off.

I leave mine on. Have yet to remove it since buying it. Just remove the bucket and keep it as low as possible. For those tight areas, that’s what my weed whacker is for.

Always mow with my loader on. That way there when I come across the numerous branches that always fall in my yard, I just stop and throw in bucket.
That's not the reason I leave it on, but it does work for that. I just can't be bothered taking it off. My loader has never been off my B2620. I just use it way too much. Pretty much any time I start that tractor I use the loader.

My girlfriend picks up the fallen branches around the shack, if she didn't I'd leave the bucket on and engage the Seat Switch Bypass so I could hop on/off easily while mowing. If I had a real tractor maybe I wouldn't be inclined to do that, but I don't so I do.
...or would, since...I'm confused.

Just curious. Why are the back tires backward?
Lack of coffee that morning.

Actually, it's because I didn't know better. I thought it would pile all the mud in the middle of a rut (if it dug one) thereby filling the rut back in, BUT there was a thread on which way to mount grippy tires and...I've since learned differently.

Both of the OEM front tires are mounted on the rim the same way, so one of them is always backwards...however one is always forwards, so... I guess I should re-mount one so I can mount them both on the tractor the wrong way.

So, if you swapped the rears they'd both point in the "right" direction, but doing that in the front wouldn't fix anything:)

Right. Currently. Or left?

If I swap the front right and front left then what happens is "the other one" points backwards, meaning up front one always points the wrong way. Since the front differential doesn't lock when in 4WD (learnt that here) it reduces traction on both sides.

So I need to de-mount one tire from the rim, mount it back the same way I took it off, realize five minutes later I messed it up,, de-mount and re-mount the rubber properly after double-checking five times, and THEN I can mount both front wheels pointing the

A few years ago I had the garage we used at work mount new tires on rims for the Ford. We had a history of pranking each other, so when I brought the tires/rims home to mount them, I sent the pic below to the garage asking if they were using drugs. To me it looked like the fake photo that it was with the jack in place. Apparently not to them. I was told they had a heated conversation about who screwed up Jim's tire.

Mowing only once a year (just once in the last 7 years did I mow twice, and one year not at all), I left the loader on when I was still using the MMM, and still leave it on now that I have the flail mower, to push low-hanging branches out of the way.

My LX rides better with the weight of the loader on so I just leave the bucket off.
