B2601 Warranty Expiring ($500 to extend for a year?). Pass, right?

Unless you have $500 to throw away......WHY would you even consider that?
Do you have "Car Shield"?
I've never had a warranty issue on my B2601. Out of warranty, no regrets. But it's like insurance, you could ask 100 people and 99 would be happy they didn't have it. But the last one, they really needed it.

Zero interest in a Car Shield plan.Unless you have $500 to throw away......WHY would you even consider that?

But I paid a premium for an extended factory warranty on the late model used BMW I purchased for my wife. It more than paid for itself.

I suspect a Kubota is more reliable than a BMW. Certainly much less to go wrong.

Axtually my 4 BMWs have been extremely reliable. But just like a Kubota OEM parts and service are very expensive.
At this particular moment in time my two remaining BMWs are out of warranty. Fingers crossed.
My new L3901 is still covered by both KTAC and factory and that decision is still two years out. All the recent horror stories about ECM failures makes me wonder.....
And yes I know a B2601 does not have an ECM or DPF filter. But if something else breaks and it has to go to the dealer $500 wont be money wasted.
So "Deal or No Deal" !!!
Easy decision for folks with no skin in the game. Not so much for the actual player.

Unless there are possible "issues" with it, ( i.e. making strange noises, or known issues) I would pass.
But as usual, there are exceptions.
When I worked at the Dodge dealers, there were cars that had a 3.3L motor (???3.0L???) whereas if you did not get the "extended warranty" you were a fool due to the fact that it was not a matter of "if" you would need a timing chain, but simply a matter of "when" you would need a timing chain. (big $$$ too)
However, in your situation, I doubt thats the case.

Another thing to think about is how many hours you think will go on the clock in that time. If you are only going to go another 100 hours, that's even less of a deal.

MANY years ago, I bought a used Mercedes extended warranty.
A TOTAL waste of my then $2,000.
Why are extended warranties offered?
Because they are BIG money makers for warranty sellers!
Refrigerator, freezer, TV, car, truck, tractor, warranty, etc.
All, generally worse than a Las Vegas bet, for the buyer!
Just like Las Vegas,.......OCCASIONALLY........somebody wins!

You mean like Fix Or Repair Daily?
All I can say is I have personal experience with 4 BMWs and they have logged over 400K miles and been solid as a rock.
Vastly better than the preceding two Cadillacs, a Ford Probe, and a currently owned Ford Focus, My sons cheap ass Ford Focus just racked up a $9K plus repair bill for a new transmission (a horrible design and chronic faulure) and collapsed gas tank due to malfunction in the evap system. Thankfully it was covered by his Carvana extended warranty. Otherwise it would have been scrap metal.

Extended automobile warranties are insurance plans that make money for the insurance company. Just like health insurance the actuaries set the odds and profit margins. Some plans are better than others. Health insurance is heavily regulated - auto warranties are not.

The problem with extended warranties is…. we are ALL grouped-together with your son’s cheap Ford Focus.….
Extended warranties are like Life Insurance: YOU will not likely be the one to benefit.

You sure that the B2601 does not have an ECM? My LX2610 has an ECU. Same difference except in wording (module vs. unit). Frankly I wish you were correct.

Not sure at all - just what a quick internet search before I posted told me. We all know the internet is never wrong.
B2601s are pretty simple. There may be a computer in there, but if so, it's not much more powerful than a calculator. Even when they do go wrong I'd expect parts to be very easily available. I guess it depends on whether a $5K bill would break the bank. If so, spending $500 to avoid that is probably OK, even though it may not happen. Whereas if you're like many of us with 5 or 6 vehicles and pieces of equipment, you can average over all them. No extended warranty on 5 things = $2,500 saving. Maybe one of them breaks and costs you $2,500, no worse off. Unlikely they all break. Unlikely you get a bill for a lot more than $2,500.

That ia pretty much my calculus.
Lets say a B2601 is a 20K machine.
if it breaks and you hsve to pay $5K to have it fixed your out of pocket expemse is $500 with warranty and $5K without.
If you dont have a warranty and cant handle a $5K repair bill the tractor is basically salvage and your casualty loss grows considerably.

I would guess that Murphy's Law will apply. If you spend the $500 then nothing will go wrong with your tractor but if you don't there will probably be a problem.
