Would you say there are any general rules (i.e. the lighter the better, etc.) regarding rakes?

I'm still pretty new at all this, so let me know if I'm approaching this the wrong way: I've been looking a lot at, and strongly considering purchasing a landscape rake for use around our 10 acres (big yards, some brush and rocks, a 300' gravel driveway, some light leveling and hole-filling)...
