    Brush hog sheared multiple bolts

Gear box mounting bolts may of been too low a grade or loose, letting the box bang about. Those washers should not be cupped like that (signs of over tightening) either, All points to assembly errors. You'll need to get the gear box off and a left handed drill bit to remove the bolt shanks. If...

A HST oil change gone wrong, what would you do?

I'd not lose sleep over a 90% change, especially in a machine that gets light duty. You never change it all anyways. Continue to change based on runtime hours and actual years (depending on where/how it is stored). I'm more concerned that my deer burger is medium rare.

    Troy Bilt tiller

Kind of buried in the shop seeing I use it now only a few times a year. Also can't see the crank output as there is a large cover that I'd have to remove. I did have it apart earlier this year as I had to pull the engine shroud to clean and lubricate the pull starter (rope would not return).

    Loader? Change My Mind!

Why 48" width? Your tiller is 60" I ask because I have a little BX25D, 48". I needed narrow to fit through gates and make it easier to get between trees. With the loader, if I have 20' logs, I VERY carefully get square to the gate and slowly lift over the gate/fence then back to being 6'...

    Troy Bilt tiller

Not a diaphragm crab, old float style. Starting has been poor since new. Even once hot, restarts are a pain. I'm positive it is the decompl, which on such a small engine, it does not need. Single shaft, 3 Hp double belt and an idler to twist the belt to run backwards.

    Troy Bilt tiller

I have a Troy-Bilt Pony, about 25 years old. Power forward and reverse. Small Briggs on it, perhaps 3hp, plenty. The thing never has wanted to start. Always takes 20 pulls. I think it has an auto-decompressor, really not needed on a small engine and that makes firing it off more difficult. Leaks...

    Hydraulic fluid dipstick question

When I drain my little BX25D, the oil comes out ''plop,plop...' until the last pint is ready to drip out. unless I remove the fill cap then it flows.Same with many other engines, the crankcase vents are minimal.

    Hydraulic fluid dipstick question

My method for a dip stick is always a double pull. I pull, wipe, insert, pull, check level.

    FedEx strikes again

I recently had a bad FedEx experience, that after years of good ones. Ordered some parts for a toilet (to 'have in stock'). Email notified 'Delivered to mail room". It was residential delivery... how many homes have a 'mail room'??? I discovered the error within 20 minutes of the delivery. FedEx...

    Pulling a 4x4 post - Ugh!!!

Yup seen that but no wheels other than the spare from my new pickup. Mostly, it was the challenge.Worse case was, I would fully hand dig it out. I've hand dug 2' Poplar stumps (giant tap roots) in the past, because they were there and so was I. One of us was going to give in and it was not going...

New to me G2160 Steering Issue

I think the LED is visible (but not illuminated) in his last picture to the side of the connections.

    Pulling a 4x4 post - Ugh!!!

I rarely (ok, never) have had to pull a 4X4 post out. I had my fence 're-configured', eight guys were here for over a day doing the work. Seems one post they could not get out so they hacked it off just 1/4" below ground level. My wife (and I) wanted to 'fix the area up' and I saw the stub, at...

New to me G2160 Steering Issue

Yeah... I'd not jump to the assumption the box is bad. Verify it is getting power and has a good ground. Looking at the images you provided, it looks pretty grubby. Un-plug, clean with CRC Electrical parts cleaner, and test with a meter.
