    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Right now (and since I got it) the BX is used for digging (BH) and scooping (FEL) dirt. Has a winch on it I use to ensure trees I cut tend to sort of fall where I want them. The 3pt stuff is not on it. To put it on it, is another 30+ minutes on and 30 off. Since the X754 is capable,(and higher...

    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Thanks! Your experience is sort of what I figured. I appreciate the real world experience. It helps me bite the bullet some. I doubt a BX1880 is any more maneuverable than my BX25D, probably the same. New mower kind of has to be smaller than a BX, diesel and probably 4 wheel steering to make it...

L275 alternator not charging. Diagnose & overhaul questions

Should work. As you tighten the nut, rap on the shaft/nut with a plastic hammer, the shock will aid in breaking the bond. Don't just crank down on the nut.

Slide hammer to pull the rotor out. I'm guessing but a plastic hammer against the bolts may pop the windings out. I assume you got the brush holder out already.

Hydraulic leak on left side of tractor differential housing

Most press fit items, I'll use ThreeBond on. Its just a sealant and really offers next to no adhesive qualities. To me, it is a little bit of insurance against leaks. OEM paint accomplishes the same thing (that stuff is tough!) But yeah, the big Q is why? Had to be pressure.

Hydraulic leak on left side of tractor differential housing

.... to add. With a new plug, I'd clean the hole surgically clean and dry (tilt the tractor to keep fluid away) and apply a VERY light coat of Threebond (not RTV) to the hole and sides of the plug. Install the plug and let it set over night before filling and running the tractor. I'd also check...

    Artisan at work

I seem to recall spinning thin aluminum sheet in shop on lathe. Used a piece of wood like a baton and real heavy leather gloves. 60+ years ago, they'd never let a kid do it today. Half of the kids (me probably) had the aluminum collapse because they worked one area too thin. Safety goggles? We...

    Verifications of selling items

Communicate via PM, don't give out your phone number, ask for theirs. Also, if you are every buying or selling, tell the other party 'lets TALK on the phone'. Reverse image search on pictures to see if it is taken off the web. Not 100% a sure thing but, one of many steps you should take. If...

BX 24 front windshield shattered...but WHY?

You were unevenly loading the tires (all four not at the same height) and that induces a slight twisting to the machine. Metal flexes, glass does not, The solution is to try and enable the cab to 'float' (mount on rubber bushings.) When I raced cars, it was not uncommon for windshields to...

    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Old garden tractor was an open diff. Got stuck once a year where i'd stick a plank under a wheel freed me, when I got stuck, I knew I was risking it. A locking diff will make all the difference. Four wheel steering is a major plus. Both Kubota and JD covering this. Honestly, everything on the...

    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Oh jeez! I've accepted the reality of, any new machine, the gates are going to be widened. OK, well the wife wants the fence expanded and two of the gates, the hinged post is rotting and the current gates are sagging, so financially, it is moot. To be fair, I went to the local John Deere Dealer...

    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Very helpful. See, I have a BX already, but I'd 'like' a 90% dedicated mower that 10% of the time, has use else where. I suppose... I could force my lame brain to be careful of the blower and instead, make great use of its' nimbleness. Your explanation of how the GR trans works is sort of what I...

    BX 1880 VS Gr2120

Dealer gave me width measurements of the GR with the Blower and the BX1880 with the side chute/hose... Almost 20" hanging off of one side. Is this accurate? BTW, both have stamped and not built up decks. Widths BX1880 w/ powered grass catcher on a 48” deck – 60” GR2120 w/ powered grass...

    12 V 30 amp supply from L6060 to sander?

Yup. The issue running 'just enough' for any motor is starting draw is often massive. Total load is watts, Volts X Amps. Lower volts needs more amps, a heavier load on the wiring. Even if only for a few seconds. Lighting loads, the surge is so fast as to rarely be a problem. I was schooled...
