Sorry I missed the second question. Do you think it is safe to have the sleeves machined/honed to 87.5MM to take the +.5mm pistons? If I can do this then I can find the +.5mm pretty easily. I was worried that this would make the sleeve too thin. Thanks for all the advice!

@North Idaho Wolfman...thanks for the help. Before work I confirmed that there is no tag on the valve cover. It does have a twist off oil filler cap, if that helps any. Is there anywhere else I can look? I'm pretty sure that this is a pre-1997 it has the older engine identification stamped...
