New BX Owner and 1st Cold Start

You may have already done this, but be sure to add some anti-gel (Winterizer) to your fuel tank. If you don't and it gets too cold, you will have problems. Don't ask me how much fun it is to change a fuel filter when you can't feel your fingers.....

Advice on a New BX23S Setup

They make great stuff. Some of the first things I got for my BX23S were following: BXpanded: Under Armor, BackHoe bucket quick connect, Ripper tooth Heavy Hitch: Rear 2 inch; Receiver Hitch Plate for Kubota BX Series. (Just liked it more than the BXpanded one.) Bro-Tek: 2 inch rear wheel...

    Interesting video

I watch most of his videos, as I find them fun and informative. I think he is trying to do the best comparison he can do. There is nothing wrong with saying the JD can lift more than the Kubota. As long as you knew that up front and was OK with that, then what is the big deal? Just enjoy the...

New BX23S: Not sure I purchased best QA skid steer fork set...

I did a quick look at Palletforks.com and one set of their 42 inch forks have this as the weight: Specifications: - Total Weight: 283 lb - Frame Weight: 105 lb - Fork Weight: 89 lb each - Width: 45.5" - Height: 19" - Fork length: 42" The frame you got may be around 150 pounds, but when you...

New BX23S: Stalls when backing up (reverse)...

I had the same problem with the seat switch. I ended up zip tying something over it to hold it down. Hasn't done it since. Now it is probably frying some safety sallies brains to read that, but I went for the simple fix. ;)

BX23 (current) - how much lifting force Backhoe?

Not being smart here, but Youtube some videos of a BX25D or BX23S doing work. You will see how people use their FEL and BH. I learned a lot of tips doing that. When I dig out stumps and whatnot, my biggest problem is lifting the front of the tractor off the ground and then trying to put it...

BX23 (current) - how much lifting force Backhoe?

I actually downloaded a PDF version so mine wouldn't get dirty either! ;-)

New BX23 - how many hours is no longer new?

Re: New Dealer BX23 - how many hours is no longer new? I actually bought my BX23S from Messicks. When I was first looking for one, the salesman from one of their other locations was working with me. I just didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling from him, and was about to go to another...

    Which would you buy?

"Tractor Time with Tim" had this happen to him. He bought a tractor at auction, got a "good" deal.... only to find out later the tractor was stolen. They took the tractor and he was getting no where with the auction house in getting his money back. That was last year. Don't recall from his...

    bx23s lifting power

That would be the first thing I would check. Mine was mid spec when I got it. Boosted it to 1950 and I do notice a difference in the amount of lift I have now.

    Advice on grapple

It will lift more. A lot of it will depend on what your pressure is when you begin. If you are at the lower end of the spec, instead of the higher end, when you begin, you will notice much improvement. Now it will never be the same as a B series, but you will notice a nice change. Remember...

    Advice on grapple

There are several threads on this topic. If I recall correctly (am at work so can't look it up), the normal PSI is like 1750 to 1850 PSI. You can buy a pressure tester from BXpanded, or build your own. You can get shims from your Kubota dealer that are made specifically for this. Before...

    Advice on grapple

I have the wicked root rake grapple. As you mentioned, weight was a concern. It's good for brush if you can get it into a pile, and then just grab the whole mess and clamp it shut.

Is a 3rd function worth the expense?

When I got my BX23S 2 years ago, I didn't get the 3rd function kit. Within a month, I kicked myself and had to eventually send it back to get one installed. I wanted a grapple and the kit was the best way to do it. I could have done it myself, but honestly, I just didn't want too. So back to...

    Advice on grapple

I love the grapple. I have moved logs, rocks, piles of branches... all I have done is knock some of the paint off. Once you get the hang of it, you can pick up almost anything. It almost makes you lazy. Instead of getting off the tractor to pick and move one small branch, you will use the...
