Boy, sorry to hear that. I've got the same Stihl 211 and it's been my go to saw for several years. The only difference, mine was given to me strait gassed and I had to rebuild it. Could you have a short in the kill switch wire or plug wire??

Get a can of foaming motorcycle chain lube. You can rotate the chain however is the easiest. I like to use the foaming type because it sticks to the chain (when foam subsides it turns into a grease) and easy to use. No need to lube sprockets, the chain will transfer to them.
