    GR 2120 Slow reverse tip

Wanted to comment the selling dealer has found several other NEW and used GR series units with the same issue. Not sure if it will get back to Kubota and corrective measures will be implenented. IMO they seem to be following dertoits path in the mid 70's :(

3 Pt Wood chipper experiences WC-68 vs WM-8H

Wanted to update after a bit of use. The blades on the woodland mills stood up to more abuse with little to no signs of wear. The hard to access zerk was rotated 1/2 turn for access. It did require crossing fingers and a few prayers that it didn't break. 🙏🙏 I lengthened the roller...

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

I can't say I agree or disagree as there are many variables involved. My b3200 calls for 90w in the mower deck and it has never leaked. Don't recall the qty. I believe it calls for changing at 200 hrs. Ill have to look at its vent system as it has mowed the same property many times before...

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

Possibly? I feel that the quality the Japanese were known for is slipping a bit. This is based on several experiences outside of Kubota. In my engineering career I worked both with and for the Japanese. Yokogawa as a supplier of automated analysis equipment and Canon in their Semiconductor...

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

No, the intial change is at 50 hrs, and every 100 afterwards. Much more frequent than my previous 2120 Which I believe was every 200 with no 50 hour change. They also want the gearbox level checked every 50 hrs. Indicates to me they are aware of a problem. Still spec'ing UDT2. They're also...

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

Do youhave a GR or just looked at the manual? IF you have one, What year is your unit and or what date was on the manual? Interetsing that they've changed to 200 hours 🤔 Does it call for UDT2 and or any sub'stitutes? 🍻

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

Good question, UDT2 is spec'd in the manual with no mention of a subsstitute. I will email the dealer to see if there are any TSB's but am doubting it. 🍻

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

There in is the problem. The seal was not leaking and still isn't. The oil is coming from the vent. Many may use these on flatter ground. I have a number of hills some are fairly steep. That is part of the reason I chose the GR is the AWD and well as glide steer. The picture below is of a...

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

I'm running 75-140 Synthetic gear oil in it currently. And yes it calls for UD2 in the mower deck gearbox.

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

Probably not as the filter was holding about an ounce of fluid and it the check valve will still be in the same dirty environment collecting debris. The other issue is the check valves vent holes get plugged rather quickly.

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

not quite ;) The seal isn't the issue, it's the flipping vent/breather. I'm not sure if it's the hilly acreage or the poorly placed VB. The hills are one issue. The other, if one looks at the placement of the breather, it is just to the R of the gearbox shaft which can/ will throw oil as it...

    Pivot point Lubricants ?

    Anyone else ?

Leaking gear boxes on mower decks

Wanted to up date this. The above mod worked well on level ground but would still puke a bit of fluid going down STEEP hills and possibly when mowing with the R side of the deck substantially lower (mowing a hill sideways). I have devised what I believe will resolve the issue permanently but...

    Pivot point Lubricants ?

Thanks for the reply . Reading a bit on it, I'm assuming it stays tacky which would attract dirt dust, clippings etc. 🤔 yes or am I mistaken? 🍻

    Pivot point Lubricants ?

Is there a preferred / recommended lubricant for the various exposed pivot points (linkage pins, etc), that doesn't stay wet and attract dirt/ debris. I've read of some that claim to be a dry film lubricant and protect against rusting but thought members here may have suggestions on what has or...
