    Finally found one

Bulldog, I don't know if the noise level, both in the Kubota and PSD, is less or a different pitch, but yes, the engines do sound -different-. In the Fords we have used: Delvac 1 which is a 5-40, used about a quart between changes Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck oil, 5-40 (this is Del 1) a qt...

Bulldog, my thinking is the same as yours: with regard to the Amsoil product; they do advertise it as -both- a 30 weight and a 10/30 never could figure that out. And I have been told, by people who are supposed to be smart, that ALL engines get their best efficiency with oils no higher than 30...

    Finally found one

Bulldog, thanks for the info. There is just enough Amsoil 30 10/30 diesel in the jug to fill the Kubota so I will start with that and see, I am of the same opinion that the lightest oil is the better choice and I did try the 10/30 in one psd and while all of it stayed in the engine I did not...

    Finally found one

Almost gave up looking for a Kubota mower, almost, was real close to buying a new Deere with a smoking Kawasaki, "they all smoke on start up Tom, its normal".... I really hate the JD dealer 'tude, "you expect us to sell it for $3.00 under list!", buy it or not, either way is fine with the Deere...

    Right place?

Kuboman, generally I would agree however Kubota has acknowledged and updated defective hydrostats as recently as '06. I have tried to determine what model hydro was used in the '01 TG series but have had no luck. The internet postings on this model-all of seven or so- seem to be evenly...

    Right place?

Aside from the engine my biggest concern is the hydro unit as replacement is pushing 2 large. The design of TG series, from what I am told, makes it difficult to both check and replace the fluid in the drive motor, so my plan is to bring my hand oil sample pump and try to get an ounce out to...

    Right place?

kuboman, that is an impressive run time, if that were on a mower it would be roughly 420 years worth for the average homeowner. Granted the operating conditions are far less hostile when on a reefer, wonder how often the oil was changed?

    Right place?

lt230s, garyf, daniel, dpmizell; thank you for the replies. Can you provide some basic evaluating suggestions? normal v abnormal observations?? for an engine with roughly 400 hours-would any leaks be considered normal ? Of course I will remove the air filter and take a look, I have found that...

    Right place?

Hello: I ended up here through a search for 'Kubota lawn tractor forums' but I am beginning to suspect that this may not be the place for me?? Perhaps someone can help me with a general question; all things being equal, and if reasonable care is given, approximately how long can the diesel...
