I'll try the stick method and see if I can get it to move and I'll check out the ohms as well. I can probably check continuity as well.

This is definitely helpful. I'm glad there are others experiencing the same issues - not that I'm glad you're having trouble but that I can find some help.

So it's 7 years later from when this thread was started but I've got a similar problem. My gauge says empty instead of full. How do I get the sending unit or float or whatever it is out to check it? I'm not a mechanically inclined guy but I'm not totally inept either. If there is a manual...
