Well the customer brought the whole mess in today and it took me 5 min. to spot the prob. Clogged silencer / spark arrester. It was misassembled and therefore the old engine clogged it up. COMPLETELY. Cleaned it up and presto. Engine started right up. Case closed. Thanks for the help guys...

Thanks for the well thought out reply. I have the engine separated from the lifts controls. Only the main pump is connected via flywheel. I do not think it will run with only a 100 psi 1st impulse when cranking. I'm waiting for owner to pull the little bastard.

Any comments on compression test results ??

Hello again, I finally got out to check compression on this 1200V and it does not look good. 100# on first pump , 200# on second and 3 more get it to 300#. All cylinders are identical pressures. I would think I should be seeing 200# on the first full shot. Going to pull it and see what's up.

I guess that's an option Dave. I'll see if I can rig somethin up but in the field you never have what you need. I guess I could hook a gauge to the pump output ports .

Idid that . Last post. Yes I know what you mean about either. I never use it. I quess priming with fuel doesnt work because the flame has to start in pre chamber.

Thanks for the reply guys. i failed to mention one of the first things I did was to take a clean outboard tank with a priming bulb and placed it on top of machine with fresh fuel of course. After i check compression i will get 2 good battery's on it and spray a mist of diesel fuel into intake...
