I use that method when changing the hydraulic filter on my L3940. It works fine and no worries about too much vacuum. You don't need to use that method when changing the HST filter (if you have an HST filter).

Well it turns out my "Seat Tilt Switch" was bad. I tested it according to the WSM and found out it wasn't working. I ordered a new one (pricey thing too) and installed today. Now it works like it should when engaging the stationary PTO. Problem solved.

When I follow the instructions below to engage the stationary PTO, the engine will still shut off. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

As stated above, it may not be getting a good ground. I was having the same problem and added a ground wire and now it works as it should.

You said everything worked fine last week when using the mower. Just curious, what was your engine speed (tach rpm) when it was working fine? I have an L3940 and I have to run my engine speed at 2640 rpm to get 540 pto rpm.

I had rats chew into my UTV wires. I repaired them and used "rodent anti-chew deterrent tape" (do an Amazon search). I also put out some poison rat chunks in dog/cat proof boxes. So far, that has worked.

I have an L3940 with loader. I also own 16 ft. and 20 ft. trailers. The tractor is too much weight for the 16 ft. trailer and it will sway on you if you are not careful. I always trailer my L3940 on the 20 ft. trailer. Be safe and go with a 20 ft. trailer.

The EuroGrip tires look great and also a great price. They should last you a long time. I replaced all four of mine a couple of months ago. I went back with Titan Trac Loader II. The originals still had good tread, but were cracking and getting dry rotted. BTW....your property looks nice...
