    Forecasted record high for Christmas

No such luck here. Below freezing all week, and teens by Friday. Then again, it's Maine in Winter, so...

"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus"

Like most of you, don't NEED anything. But as long as we're fantasizing, a bigger shop with room for a full sized Bridgeport with 3 axis DRO. Including the mill and a crapload of tooling, of course... Secondarily, I wouldn't mind upgrading my C4 'Vette to a C5 or C6. Ragtop, 6 speed manual...

    Hydraulic Quick Coupler Question

Can you mix and match pin type QCs with ball type? Female on tractor is pin, males I have on hand are Pioneer/Ball type

Tools you want to brag about?

I'm a tool junkie. ANY excuse to buy a new tool is a good one. That said, I can't afford (and don't need) Snap On stuff. My most recent purchases: 1. Vevor Mag drill which is one of those tools you don't use often, but when you need it, nothing else works as well. Here, I'm using it to...

    Possible water in hydraulic system

If there's water in it, fluid will be milky. Changing filter(s) is a good idea as well if you haven't changed them in a while.

    Loader Supports

Nicely done! The originals are, ummmmm..."Minimalist" aren't they.

When did you get your first tractor?

I'd guess around 1958. We had a local agricultural fair and the John Deere tent always had toys on display. If we'd had a good year on the farm, Dad would buy me a toy. I can remember 2 cylinder models, a manure spreader, a Model 12 combine and a MC or 40 crawler and later a New Generation...

    Found off-road diesel

Yup, me too. Every Fall I have them top off the tank for the furnace in the shop and the tank for the tractor. That and a healthy dose of Power Service in the tractor fuel and I'm good for a year. Both 275 gallon tanks, actual fill is about 250 gallons.

    Poor man's top and tilt

Nice! I did essentially the same thing. The top link worked for years before the stress blew out the seals. I replaced it with a purpose-built top link with check valves. Same deal on the tilt cylinder. Plain cylinder worked but wouldn't hold position for long, added check valves and all is...

At what temperature do you plug in your block heater?

I have a remote controlled outlet that I can plug mine in to. If I'm expecting snow, I'll plug it in the night before and if I get up in the morning and need to blow snow, I'll turn it on with the remote and then spend an hour (or more, depending on temperature) slurping coffee and surfing. I...

Explain this feature and function please.......?

I believe it's intended to keep you from inadvertently moving the loader control while getting on and off the tractor.

    must-have workshop features

We think much alike, I've incorporated many/most of the ideas in the original post in my little shop. It's my first (and likely last...) heated shop which is a HUGE blessing. Only notes: I detest tools on rolling bases. A necessary evil in limited space, but invariably move when you least...

    Daily Chuckle

You can't fool me, I ain't had a hair that long in 30 years. And it's the wrong color to be Maw's hair!

    Daily Chuckle

YEARS ago - Like mid-70's - I worked on a lot of vacuum tube stuff. We had monster reel-to-reel recorders that used 14" reels of 1" tape. The tape "deck" was a couple of hundred pounds of cast aluminum. The whole thing was 32 inches wide, about that deep and 7 feet tall. 14 channels if I...
