Grease it until all the old grease is replaced with fresh. Wash it with detergent of choice. Grease it again just enough to push out any water. Or the way I do it... Leave it uncovered during a rain.

We have a fair in a few weeks that my daughter will show/sale her steer. Next month is the fair her lambs will be shown/sold. If it wasn't for the livestock, we wouldn't be going.
