I'm in SE Texas too and the humidity is hell on the close tolerance steel on steel fitments. For example the ROPS is frozen solid on both my tractor and mower. I've given up trying to bang them loose.

Those disposable aluminum roasting pans are low profile and available everywhere for cheap. I've used them many times for oil changes on low vehicles

I've had good luck with lanolin based products like fluid-film. You definitely need air flow/ventilation to keep the humidity down. Putting a cover over the equipment often makes it worse in my experience.

A quick, temporary fix might be to unhook the fuel line at the filter and blow air back up into the tank.
