L4300DT front end bevel gear seals

Ahhh, excellent, I'm smarter than I thought I was. So basically, the right level will have the oil just starting to seep out of the small plug on level ground? Thanks a lot folks, B

L4300DT front end bevel gear seals

Any thoughts at all? A friend with a similar tractor suggested that if it's just a slight weep, that you could just top it up now and then till you have time to do a proper repair. That what I was thinking of as I just don't have time right now, but I wonder how much oil there should be in...

L4300DT front end bevel gear seals

Hi folks, bought this tractor used a couple of years ago, and the front left "bevel gear seal" had gone just before I got it and was replaced. Now I think the front right has gone and I'm wondering if the evidence pictured is enough, or if you have any other ways of diagnosing it. I'm no...

    Logs - How About This?

I had one spot on my trail where the road slopes sideways and there was a ravine off that side, and if a big log slipped over it could well pull the tractor over sideways with the lift point high on the 3pt arms. If I had a heavy log behind, I'd just stop shortly before that point on the trail...

    Logs - How About This?

Oh and regarding the difficulty in keeping them in place, I never even had to touch mine even after working for a couple of weeks straight in the woods. AFTER the first day. You are going to screw with them a bunch when you first put them on to take out the slack to keep them tight (did I say...

    Logs - How About This?

We had a lot of ice up here last year with a couple of ice storms, and my tractor was pretty near useless without chains even with ag. tires and FWD on flat ground. Couldn't push snow. I now think chains are a necessity and if you look after them and keep them TIGHT (and don't be lazy and put...

    Logs - How About This?

Yup, rear tires only. Lots of folks here would know better than me, but as I understand, the front's gotta slip a bit every now and then in FWD, and if you lock it to the ground too well with chains, you add stress to components in the front end. I suppose you MIGHT consider it if you were on...

    Rare old Kubota info please

I am going to double check with him and get back to ya....I'd be surprised if there was that little on it! B

    Logs - How About This?

Yup, chains turn three season tires into 4 season tires and back again whenever you want. That being said, lifting the front end would be more of a concern with that much traction on the back!

    Rare old Kubota info please

I have a buddy with a small old Kubota that seems to be very rare, and I'm wondering if anyone has any spec sheets on it. It's an L340DT tractor, and google shows up very little on it. He's the second owner and it didn't come with manuals etc. B

    Bump from back right tire

I'm not on the roads very often either, but really I don't care about the bump from a comfort perspective. I just care if it might mean something bigger that I would be unwise to ignore. The old "ounce of prevention........" B

    Logs - How About This?

You are absolutely right, this CAN happen, but remember when the butt is lifted off the ground you are infinitely less likely to fetch up on something. This can also happen when you're plowing and hit a rock. I keep the loader on the front for weight though this won't stop it of course. You...

    Bump from back right tire

Thanks Tiredguy. I'll get my wife to drive it and walk behind it. I did get the wheel jacked up off the ground and spun it by hand and looked at the axle and seals etc, and didn't see anything but smooth spinning, and there are no leaks or anything. I'm going to check all the wheel nuts on...

    Tractor revs on cold start

Thanks wolfman, I'll give those a try. Can't hurt I suppose! Appreciate the help, B
