    Land Plane vs Box Blade

Grandson caught his first Steel Head yesterday on Elk Creek. The creeks are always busy around here on opening day.

    Land Plane vs Box Blade

It depends on how long of a driveway or road you need to grade. For less than 1/8 mile a box blade with scarifiers would probably be fine. We have maintained a 1/2 mile gravel drive for 35+ years in northwest PA and use both a box blade and land plane with scarifiers. The box blade is used first...

    SHOW your new spring attachments!

We bought one from MechMaxx last year for $1399 shipped. Works great. Woodland Mills has the same grinder "on sale" now for $1999.

    Stump Grinder

Ordered a MechMaxx yesterday. We have dozens of stumps now and will be dropping probably another dozen dead trees this year, so I hope it works well on our L2501. Will advise when we get it in a few weeks. Already have friends and a neighbor that are interested in seeing how well it works.

Should I buy a landscape rake?

We have a landplane, box blade, back blade and landscape rake. I think the rake gets more use than anything else. If you can get SSQA pallet forks, 3 point receiver, and the landscape rake in nice condition for $1,100 it's a good purchase. You can never have too many attachments, even it they...

How to repair a cut in R4 Tire Tread ???

I would just trim off the flap to avoid additional tearing as others have suggested. Save the flap as a reminder that you have used your tractor for actual work.:)

Wish I did a lot of things sooner

We still use a 5HP 20 ton MTD splitter I bought new 31 years ago. We have done up to 6 cords a season with it. It will split any nasty, knotted wood we have. Worth every penny it cost me back then.

    Driveway/ road millings and taxes?

Yes, screened millings only. We have a guy with a vibrating drum roller to pack them down. I think he charged $135 to do the 80 ton stretch two years ago. We did get 2 loads of un-screened for free. It makes good base material for the really bad areas.

    Driveway/ road millings and taxes?

Here in Erie County PA, the tax assessment is based on buildings and acreage of the property. Private drive construction materials are not part of the assessed tax value, but I imagine that other states or counties can tax things differently to take more of our money. We did about 1/3 of our 1/2...

Pros and cons of snow removal options

The magnet mirrors on our L2501 are great. My head don't swivel like it could when I was younger. Still need to turn to look back sometimes, but much less often with the mirrors on.
