The gear box on my ZD21 with a 54 inch deck would get to hot to touch after 2 hours. I just purchased a ZD326 and will swap out the gear lube for full synthetic this winter.

R-1's will work better in all conditions including heavy snow. The big disadvantage is faster wear on pavement and they tear up the yard or field. I run them on a M 7040 in woods and I have not had a flat. My other Tractor had R4's and bush hogging the same ground did get a few flats from thorns.

sounds good, I will back off a few turns and test. Maybe loosen the bolts and removing the dampeners will make it feel like the Zd-21. Are you running the stock tire?

If you changed both the spin on cleaned the water filter i would also drain the fuel tank. If still an issue maybe a injector is plugged?

Has anyone found a way to reduce the resistance to moving the hydo control levers on the ZD 326? They have a lot more resistance to movement than my old ZD 21. I removed the 2 small dampeners and it did improve slightly but still very stiff.

I also looking at a new ZD 326. I would test mow with the rear and decided. Lots of guys say they work very well but all of the dealers in my area only have side. I want a side so i can blow heavy grass clippings when I cut trails and around a pond. Let us know what you decide.
