    Greasing your machine....The hate/hate relationship.

#1 and #2 cotton rags are crazy expensive. Synthetic rags are cheaper....but useless.

    Greasing your machine....The hate/hate relationship.

I know my reply is late, but I use a pair of heavy duty disposable gloves from Harbor Freight. I'm right handed, so I put an old tube sock on my left hand to wipe the fitting before I connect the grease gun, grease the fitting and then wipe whatever needs to be removed with the sock on my left...

9 Worst Things You Can Do to a Diesel Engine

I learned that the hard way, and it also applies to the lending of hand or power tools, even hammers.

    Happy Block Heater Day!

I had one on my 680 CK Case loader. Plugged in, newly rebuilt engine and it still fired off at 10 degrees F one cylinder at a time. A high capacity blow dryer set to hot and put into the air filter intake tube and let run for 10 minutes made more of a difference than the block heater in...

It was a thought. Back to square 1.

    Excessive Hydraulic foam

5 gallon buckets are made the same way as quart bottles, just on much larger machines.

    Excessive Hydraulic foam

I'll bet that is what happened. I wonder if the piece of plastic could get sucked into the pump intake screen (if there is one) and cause cavitation/foaming?

    Excessive Hydraulic foam

Does that feel like the same plastic that an oil bottle is made from? I understand it's thicker. Plastic bottles are made in a blow mold machine. A controlled size piece of hot plastic is set on the end of a metal tube that is inside of a heated metal mold. Air is applied, effectively...

    2380 50 hr Oil Change

Unless the engine operates differently than a normal engine, the oil is sucked up from the sump by the oil pump, goes thru the filter and then onward to the engine internals. If the filter isn't plugged completely, the bypass should be closed, forcing the oil thru the filter media. If the...

    Kubota L47 brakes

I had a 1966 (I think) Case 680CK with the extenda-hoe that had a gross weight of over 7.5 tons. It had two brake discs that were 8 inches in diameter, double sided and mechanically actuated by a brake pedal and worked with 4 or 6 (it's been a while to remember the exact number) 5/8 bearing...

    Gotta Say "THANKS"

I use a small piece of paper towel, tissue or napkin. Withdraw the dipstick and touch a corner of the paper product to the full level on the stick. If the oil is at that level it will wick up into the paper product. Go lower on the stick if you have to.

    Aftermarket cylinders

Try a local hydraulic shop. Usually quite a bit cheaper than the dealer.
