    Chains on 4x4 Front Wheels

Yes, thanks Wolfman, I do run the plow in float whenever possible, and that's when the wheels slip. It's way out in front on a skid-steer connector on the loader arms.

    Chains on 4x4 Front Wheels

I have an L3560 4WD with a snow plow on the front. Having trouble getting enough steering traction - if the plow digs in, it will take the front of the tractor sideways against the direction I'm steering. Front wheels are then skidding along the road sort of sideways. I can correct this by...

    Tire chains rolling off centre

Ok thanks so much for the link and info.

    Tire chains rolling off centre

Ruger1980 Thanks for those pics from Trigg. In warmer weather, I think I will try to rebuild these chains so that the side chains pass neatly between the lugs on the way to the tightening chain, as I think you are suggesting. Is there a link available to the Trigg photos info you have posted...

    Tire chains rolling off centre

I suppose they may work ok being off centre like that. But I'm afraid they're unstable and could get worse and worse. I have steep hills and it's not unusual to spin a wheel even with those aggressive chains.

    Tire chains rolling off centre

Thanks for the pictures! Especially the R1 tire. I will count links and see if I'm in the same proportions. Maybe the two rows of studded links need to be closer together.

    Tire chains rolling off centre

Thanks for the comment. I will try improving the tensioner. But if that doesn't work, what are the right chains for an R1 tire? I am plowing snow on about a mile of gravel road with some steep hills. It is cheaper to buy a different tire and keep these chains, or to buy new chains?

    Tire chains rolling off centre

Thanks Henro! I've seen those tension springs used by some dude in a YT video and was wondering... Plowing snow, we end up driving through some icy snow banks that scrape over whatever's on the side of the wheel so the tensioner has to be tough - which I think those ones are.

    Tire chains rolling off centre

I'm having a terrible time trying to get my Trygg chains to stay straight on my Kubota 3560. These chains came from a different tractor, and I cut out some links to make them fit on the new wheels. See pics. The two rows of studded links should run straight round the tire, but after use...
