    L3600 engine rebuild

Thought I would update this thread. Tore the motor down and it had a broken piston ring and messed up the cylinder bore. The rest of the motor was in great shape. I guess just bad luck. Replaced the sleeve in the bad cylinder, new rings and stuff. Put it all back together and its back in...

how much extra work did I cause?

Success! After about 100 times of trying to slip the shaft into place, I got out the borescope and looked in. The coupler had come loose and was sitting in there. I fed a magnet in and fished it out. Tapped the coupler back on the shaft tight and it slipped right into place. Made my night...

how much extra work did I cause?

Thanks, the tip about the pipe that may be very helpful. I hope the coupling is still in place and not in the bottom of the transmission! I will see what I can do, but it doesnt look too hard to take the trans off. Thanks again for the help.

how much extra work did I cause?

Replacing the front propeller seals on L3600. Tractor is split seals out and I noticed I had scratched the sleeve on the the shaft. I was working to remove the sleeve and pulled the shaft out of the tranny. Really glad I notice the scratches on the sleeve before putting it back, but suckes I...

    Replacing front prop shaft seal

I found a good video on youtube. Dug into mine today and got the seals out. I used some picks for the first seal and a screw for the second one. Just had to be careful not to allow the shaft to come out too. The seals seals were facing opposite directions. I am 100% positive they were like...

Fan belt, ac belt came off M9540

Belt came off my mx6000 with less than 50hrs on it. I figured it wasn't tight enough or a bad/cheap belt. Maybe something came up and jammed it? Replaced the belt, and haven't had another issue in about 125hrs. Spec for the belt is pretty tight.

    Replacing front prop shaft seal

I have my L3600 tractor split. I have always had a small leak out of the bell housing water drain. I figure it is from the seal on the front shaft. #70 in the diagram. It shows two of them. Has anyone replaced these without tearing it down any more than this? Any tips on getting the seal out...

    L3600 engine rebuild

More progress today. I got the motor out and onto a stand. Removed the head. Cylinders appear to have some scoring. I had to fabricate a socket deep enough to get the front pulley nut off. Good use of Chinese sockets! A few more things to take apart, then off to a shop. I cant believe the...

    L3600 engine rebuild

Got it split today. It fought me pretty hard, but I prevailed. I am going to clean up, reorganize and remove the motor tomorrow. I should have backed the tractor into the shop, so my engine hoist could roll in easier. Shop manual is a good guide, but not complete for sure.

    L3600 engine rebuild

Thank you for the details. If I can 1k hours out of it, that will outlast me. I dont use this one much. Going to start on it today. My plan is to get the engine out and tear it down as much as I feel comfortable then to the machine shop. I will let them decide what I need to order. I will let...

    L3600 engine rebuild

Thanks, I just assumed it did based on kits I saw online. I havent checked the actual numbers on the motor. Any suggestions for brand of kit? Should I stick with OE?

    L3600 engine rebuild

My L3600 with 1K hours sucked in a ton of dust when the aftermarket air cleaner ripped. Now I have tons of blow by. Starts and runs ok, just tons of smoke coming out of the crankcase vent. It has become progressively worse over the last year. I considered a couple of options and have decided...

MX6000 HST cruise lever not holding.....Fixed

Got it fixed. I got under it today and took my time looking at how it worked. I must have taken a stick into the spring shown in the picture. The spring was bent out of shape. I removed the spring, straigtened it the best I could and tightened the "holder" in order to increase the tension...

MX6000 HST cruise lever not holding.....Fixed

Its still under warranty, so I am going to call them tomorrow and see. From the diagrams it looks like their is a cruise control wire that I dont recall seeing on mine. I wonder if they updated it with the damper? I didnt spend much time looking at it, but I am pretty certain the cruise lever...
