Multiple responses: I will check the cables when I get back to the mower in a a day or two. I do not believe there is an adjustment on the solenoid, but cannot say for certain. Thanks for the suggestions and ideas.

Ok two things. First I have it wired exactly as you stated. STill does it. However, I found today something, that to be honest I am unsure of. I assume (and we know what happens when we do that) that the plunger for lack of other words, needs to be in the y shaped yoke in the starter...
