    LA480 - Boom Cylinder troubles

Now you've got me wondering if these are original cylinders... I measure 2" ID at the end of the thread, but if the threads take another 1/8" then maybe that 1-3/4" ID starts to make more sense. The stroke I measured with the cylinder torn apart, so I may be wrong on that one. I'm thinking...

    LA480 - Boom Cylinder troubles

I measure the cylinder as 2" Bore, 20" Stroke, 27" Ret length. Hmmm - Kubota sells replacement cylinders for $1100 CAD... Princess Auto sells cylinders that are close (2" X 20" X 28") for $200 Is that one inch worth $900...

    LA480 - Boom Cylinder troubles

Someone on Reddit gave the same advice. IF I go this route, will I be able to reuse the Kubota hoses and "plumbing" hardware, or will I need to replace those as well? The combined cost of cylinder plus hardware make make replacing just the heads more appetizing.

    LA480 - Boom Cylinder troubles

I'm in the process of disassembling the boom cylinder for rebuild to get rid of a hydraulic leak. The head was an absolute beast to get off and I ended up mangling it with a pipe wrench. It eventually gave in and came off. But took a lot of leverage for a long time before it came away from the...

    L2900 Starter Relay

I'm trying to navigate a dead key/no start situation and working my way down the list, the starter relay is on the list of things to replace. I figured a relay would be $20 or so and went shopping. From Kubota dealer part #3580075070 : $114.25 "Kubota L2900 Starter Relay" relay on Amazon...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

Reaching way back to this post from @GreensvilleJay - I asked the dealership what they refilled the tractor with, and they said: "Hi, fluid was premium UDT hydraulic/transmission oil" Would you read this as "the front axle got premium UDT, and the rear fill got transmission fluid? Or would they...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

Thanks Wolfman. What do you think the chances are of it being part 060 in this diagram? The oil is running down the casting and it could be coming from either spot. Would you just replace both the o-ring and that seal at once? Either way, I think I'm parking the tractor out in the yard until I...

Thanks... That's what I was afraid you'd say.

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

The saga continues... Since putting on new hoses, there are no more leaks at the pump or the diversion valve (yet). Last night I pulled the tractor into the garage, and this morning there is a leak under the front right steering arm casting. It looks like the gasket holding the outer and inner...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

I'm familiar with helicoils (although I have never actually used them) and I have a drill press. Should be do-able at home if I can get things clamped square to the holes. Good idea, and a lot easier than my drill/tap idea. I just took the foam wrap off the hoses and all of them had some...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

I am embarassed.... After so much advice and help here, yesterday I pulled the tractor into the garage, turned on a Salamander heater, and set to work. The work was brief. I wrapped all the hoses to the diverter valve thing under the deck of the tractor in white foam wrap. I figured that if...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

I'll see if I can return it. This morning I pulled the tractor into the garage, took covers off, cleaned everything, and wrapped any lines and connections that could be a problem in white foam. I figured that if there was juice inside teh foam, I would know it was a fitting or line that had...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

That's interesting. When I got the tractor it had red juice, and every time I've had it to teh dealership, they've refilled it with red juice. (Not sure what it is). I bought a pail of hydraulic fluid (AW ISO 32) at CDN tire, but never put any in because it was the wrong colour and I assumed I...

L2900DT-GST (4wd) Chronic Hydraulic leaks - at wits end.

Thanks for all this. I'll clean everything off, then fire it up after work and see if I can find the leaks. If I'm lucky, it will be a matter of tightening some couplings. If not, I'll start replacing hoses. With the vent, I'm guessing just a piece of wire down it will do the trick?
