Replacing 4.00-12 Front Tires on L2201

N/M I just found some 6 ply on simpletire.com and ordered them. They had 6 ply BKT tri-rib tires.

Replacing 4.00-12 Front Tires on L2201

I have the standard 4.00-12, 4 ply, tri-rib tires on the front of my L2201. The problem I have is that I am constantly getting flat tires from thorns. It seems like the rubber is just really soft. What can I replace them with that will be tougher? I can't find anything in that size with a higher...

    L2201 Replacement Seat

Has anybody upgraded the seat on a L2201? I want to replace mine, but I'd like to keep the little toolbox that is mounted under the seat. What are my options?

    New Seat for L2201

Has anybody replaced their seat with something a little more comfortable? I have the stock orange steel seat with the black cover. It's not in great shape and I'd like to replace it. I'd really love to find something that would allow me to keep the little toolbox under the seat...

    L2201 Oil Light Back On

I am using Delo 15w-40. I put a mechanical gauge on it and had about 70 psi at cold startup. I let it run for about 15 minutes at around 1000 rpms. Gauge went down to about 60 psi.

    L2201 Oil Light Back On

I had the dreaded oil light on a L2201 I recently bought. Tore it down and replaced the missing cam plug. Just used it for the first time after the repair and after discing for about an hour, my oil light came on again when the rpms were low. If I revved it up the light would go back off. A few...

Just figured I'd post and let everyone know that I got everything back together and the tractor seems to be running good. No more oil light. Thanks for all the help.

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

Well I got it all apart and verified the cam plug was missing. Now I'll start cleaning all the gasket surfaces while I wait on the new parts to arrive.

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

Thanks man. I found all the bolts. Now I'm just waiting for that 46mm socket to show up. The parts list I have put together so far is a speed control plate gasket, injection pump cover gasket, 3 oil pump O-rings, a water pump O-ring, a camshaft plug and the gear case cover gasket. Do you see...

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

I may be missing something, but I only see 3 bolts/studs holding the front axle bracket to the block. Looking from the front, I can see 2 on the right and 1 on the left. This doesn't seem like much. Is this all that holds the bracket to the block. I want to be sure before I start trying to jerk...

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

What's the best way to support the tractor when the front axle is removed? Can I just crib it under the oil pan?

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

I'm also running into a problem finding a part number for the gear case cover gasket. The parts manual for the L245 shows 15221-04130 (which has been replaced by 15222-04130) for serial number <=14147 and 15601-04130 (which has been replaced by 15313-04130) for serial number >=14148. Does...

L2201 Low Oil Pressure - Pulling Gear Case Cover

My L2201 has low oil pressure, around 7-8 psi @ idle and only up to around 12-14 psi at 2000rpm. After the oil warms up, the light comes on at engine speeds below about 1800-1900rpm. After some research I decided to pull the gear cover and see if the plug had come out of my cam. My question now...

    l2201 Battery not Charging

It seems like the new alternator did the trick. I ran all the tests on the new alternator and everything checked good, so I decided to check it out again once it was hooked back up. I ran the RPMs up to about 2500 and the voltage at the battery slowly started climbing. It was 12.5 not running...

    l2201 Battery not Charging

Ok. This regulator test requires removing a fuse and hooking up a 30 watt bulb. Is this just a regular house light bulb?
