    Hey, Dummy

I would worry about anyone washing a cast-iron skillet with water! The other things, not so much.

The mods did a heck of a job! I expected it to take several days to clean up the mess and it looks like things are already back to normal.

    L 3901 weird display, won't start

Geez - I started with a Wheatstone Bridge ! Y'all called it ! Thank you for your prompt responses! The positive battery connector on this tractor consists of a strip of metal wrapped around the battery post and secured with a bolt which can provide some tension to keep things firm. On my...

    L 3901 weird display, won't start

Hmmm. I forgot to comment that the headlights are bright, and I put a battery charger on and cranked it also. Still no joy, but the dash lights were quite bright. I'll measure the voltages tomorrow. Thanks for the comments, and the warnings. I'll post what I find out. If anyone downloads...

    L 3901 weird display, won't start

No idea how to do that so I put it on one of my own servers. Go to https://si.okiefrog.org/ and right-click on "Right Click to download Kubota movie"

    L 3901 weird display, won't start

My 2015 L 3901 is acting weird. When I turn the key to start it, the dash lights flicker rapidly and the tractor makes a loud and rapid clicking sound. The tractor does not turn over. It was fine when I parked it. The battery is good, and the cables are sound. No fuses are blown. I asked...

How long did your battery last?

I've forgotten, and apparently didn't write it down. (I looked). I seem to remember it was a 'P05 something', which I interpreted as something like "battery overvoltage". Hasn't reoccured since I haven't put the maintainer back on. I did use the same maintainer on a bobcat welder, without...

How long did your battery last?

Hmm. I put a battery maintainer on my L3901, and it seems to make the tractor throw codes. If I clear the code and leave the maintainer off, the code stays off. It is definitely the maintainer causing the code. Do I have a bad battery, or a bad maintainer ? Advice appreciated.

    Weather Stations

Lots of Perl in use for my local network stuff. Too old and cranky to mess with java or javascript, which I consider to be as dangerous as systemd or snaps.

    Weather Stations

I second that reply. My station is AmbientWeather 1550. I wrote a Perl script to scrape it's web server page, stash the info in a mysql database, from which I use Perl scripts to display the data in various ways. That way if I change to a different weather station sometime I will only have...

GMail, YouTube, and other services down

I stand by the original thought that if data is "in the cloud" you have lost control of that data. If you erase it, you will never know if it was copied first. Encryption is a great idea that very few people really understand. Look up "public key encryption systems" - it is an elegant system...
