I myself am a big guy and had the same problem with the range lever on my 2501.I took a couple of adjustable wrenches and bent the lever ,above the lever guide,toward the fender to a 45 degree angle and problem was solved.I did this in the first hour of ownership.

I just performed my 50 hr maintenance also.I used Valvoline premiun blue 10/30 and super udt2 and kubota filters all around.My tractor is noticeably quieter when cold now but has more whine when at operating temp now.

I think I got lucky with my filters ,as they were not overly tight.I also had just a small amount of metal dust on magnet and just a hint of some brass dust in drain pan.I think it looked good all around ,for the break-in oil change.

CDI produces Snap-on torque wrenches,at least in 3/8" size ,because I have one of each and both were inspected by the same guy and inspection cards are identical other than lack of Snap-on on card of CDI wrench.Just some info.

I have a complete set of R4 for a 2501/3301/3901 for sale.My tractor had 25.9 hours on it when replaced with R1.Located in East Tn.These may fit other models ,experts on this forum would know that information. Rears are loaded with methanol. Price for wholegood set is $2000...

I don't have a lot of hours on my 2501,but mine steers very well with a load.Without ballast the loader will easily out lift the tractor,very good loader.

I'm the same as you.Today was the FIRST time I have ever used the glow plugs to start.It didn't fire immediately so I held over for about 10 seconds ,and it lit right up.It is stored in an unheated open shed.

Look around for an old floating hitch Ford/Dearborn disc.I find it is the best of both worlds.It has the convenience of being 3pt ,but when it is in the dirt ,it floats and contours to the ground like a good pull type because the 3 pt is floating around and just "pulling" the disc.The top link...
