    MX5400/MX6000 Cab tractor with BH92

I have a MX5400 ROPS model with BH92. Bought the ROPS version specifically to be able to use backhoe. Also for my application I didn't want a cab anyway. Bought mine about a year and a half ago and this was only way to get backhoe.

    P0087 on MX 5400HST

Yes, I was seeing the P0087 code flash alternatively with the hours in the window where the hours usually display. It was raining today so I didn't go into it deep but I couldn't see anything with the fuel system that could cause low pressure, so I don't know if it could have been a sensor...

    P0087 on MX 5400HST

Just experienced a sudden engine shutdown on my 65 hour MX5400. Was using grapple when engine suddenly shut down. I thought i had raised up enough from the seat to cause it I reached down and turned the key to start and it didn't start. I turned the key off and then back to start and...

    Retorque wheel and FEL bolts

There is something called Hooke's Law. In a nutshell it says that a solid object has some elasticity up to a point. In other words, a bolt will stretch like a spring up to a certain point. That is how it creates a clamp load to hold the wheel on tightly. The problem is if you stretch the...

    Credit Card BS...

I hear ya. I hate poor customer service. A lot of my working career dealt with customer focus, so I guess I am more tuned in to it that some people. Call trees have their place, but man can they be ridiculous sometimes.

    Retorque wheel and FEL bolts

I never really liked the term "retorque". I worked in industry for years and spent a lot of time dealing with torque issues. We typically don't retorque anything. What generally happens is we set a torque wrench, usually a clicker, at some value, apply it to the bolt or nut, and if it clicks...

PTO vs Engine speed thoughts for discussion

I agree. I made the post after reading a lot of threads where people were agonizing about full speed operation in the first 50 hours. I retired from a major class 8 truck manufacturer. After we built a truck the first thing we did with it after it came off the line, was run it up on the dyno...

PTO vs Engine speed thoughts for discussion

I was just thinking a bit today about the engine speed on my MX5400 relative to PTO speed. If you look at the tach, the PTO speed arc marked in yellow lies directly between 2600 and 2700 RPM. Presumably the PTO speed would be in the middle which is 2650. I have read a lot of discussion on...

    Tractor weight question

I will probably be buying a trailer and I am trying to figure out what my tractor actually weighs. I don't readily have access to a scale. I have an MX 5400 ROPS HST. The tractor itself weighs 3716 Lbs. However I have loaded R4 tires and FEL. I need a pretty reliable number for the tire...

    MX5400 first regen

The regen process which you have to perform is running at a high and constant RPM. Of course all of the 20 hours on the machine are not at high and constant RPM. Of the 20, maybe a total of 5 hrs were running the chipper, and then not all at one time. Usually one half to one hour at a time...

    MX5400 first regen

I was finished doing what I was working on and was back at my shop. I just parked and let it run until it completed.

    MX5400 first regen

For anyone interested to know, I experienced my first regen on my MX5400 last night. Just before putting the tractor away I got the regen light. Followed the procedure per instructions on the fender decal. Hours at first regen was 20.6. When regen was complete it was 20.9, so it took between...

    MX5400 troubles

Sorry to hear that. I have a two month old MX5400 and like it great so far. I run a chipper a lot and spend a lot of time in the trees, running over brush and the like. I will definitely keep an eye out for this type of mishap. Sure hope they find a way to get you going quickly.

    Welding 1045 steel

The 1045 designation means it is a medium carbon steel. The 10 says it is carbon and the 45 designates the carbon content. In this case .45% carbon. It is weldable, but not as easily weldable as a more low carbon steel such as 1018. Preheat it to about 300 degrees F. Then bury it in sand...

Wheel removal and reinstallation (loaded tires)

Jyoutz is right on the money. What I have always done is just as he said. Use a floor jack to just barely get the wheel off the floor. Once the lug bolts or nuts are off you can roll it out to the side until ready to reinstall. Whatever you do, don't let it fall over. It is a real pain to...
