Well I pulled the speed adjuster plate off to have a look at the governor assemblies, looks like 1800 rpm motor has a pretty different setup in there. Most of the parts can be interchanged, it looks like, except for a threaded rod that is mounted in the block on the RTV 3000 rpm engine. The 1800...

It's really similar to the existing dipstick, it looks like that what it is for sure (I hope). I don't really see what else it could be from, it's pretty big... Maybe someone or something landed on the dipstick while the motor was running and it ripped the end off of it...
